Marvel Reveals Dark New Direction for Spider-Man, X-Men, and Fantastic Four

Marvel is planning to explore more intense and complex storylines for its most beloved heroes and teams.

Marvel Comics is launching a new series called MIDNIGHT this August. The line will begin with MIDNIGHT X-MEN by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte, then continue with MIDNIGHT FANTASTIC FOUR by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker, and MIDNIGHT SPIDER-MAN by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Scie Tronc, according to a recent Marvel press release.

Marvel is expanding its comic universe with a new line called MIDNIGHT UNIVERSE. It’s designed to be a thrilling experience for both longtime readers and newcomers, offering a dark and unpredictable world where anything is possible. The stories are deeply connected, built on rich history, and will be created by some of Marvel’s top writers with complete creative freedom. Expect shocking twists and chilling changes to familiar heroes. In this universe, the X-Men are driven by a thirst for power, the Fantastic Four embrace darkness, and Spider-Man’s great power comes with a terrifying cost.

Marvel Comics is known for exploring dark themes, and its upcoming “Midnight” universe will push characters to their limits. After over 80 years of inspiring hope, Marvel’s heroes will face their darkest challenges in this new line of comics.
