Netflix confirms that Stranger Things 5 isn't coming out this year

As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of Stranger Things, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and disappointment upon hearing the latest updates about the final season of this beloved Netflix series. The news that filming is only halfway done and that we likely won’t be seeing the grand finale until at least 2025 is a tough pill to swallow.

Recently, the team behind “Stranger Things” production revealed that they had completed filming half of the fifth and last season. Filming for this new installment began several months ago and is expected to continue for some more time. As a result, it’s likely that we won’t get to see it until at least 2025.

As a dedicated fan, I had been eagerly anticipating the return of my favorite shows for one last hurrah this year. However, during Netflix’s Q2 earnings call, they dashed my hopes when CEO Ted Sarandos announced their plans. Looking ahead through 2025, he revealed that new seasons of “Wednesday,” “Stranger Things,” and “The Night Agent” are on the schedule. Alas, it seems my dreams of a satisfying conclusion this year were merely wishful thinking.

As a longtime fan of “Stranger Things,” I have to admit that the idea of a new season airing in 2024 seemed like a distant dream. Two years is a long time to wait, especially when you’re used to getting a new installment every year or so. But with the hype surrounding the show and the cliffhanger ending of season 4, it’s easy to see why fans might have gotten their hopes up.

Netflix confirms that Stranger Things 5 isn't coming out this year

Stranger Things season 5 will be “out of control”

In some comfort, we can anticipate that the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” is expected to be exhilarating. Jamie Campbell Bower, who portrays the menacing monster Vecna, shared his perspective with The Hollywood Reporter, stating, “If you found last season thrilling, this one takes it a step further – it’s absolutely wild and intense. Trust me, it’s something truly extraordinary.”

He almost appears speechless, exclaiming “It’s bigger! It’s utterly insane! It’s absolutely insane.” The fourth installment concluded with Vecna, inhabiting the dark Upside Down realm, rupturing the boundary between our worlds. Now, it falls upon a frazzled single mother, a small-town officer, a pair of college students, a teen with telekinetic abilities, and numerous high schoolers to save Indiana from annihilation. Could the last chapter possibly be anything but chaotic?

It’s likely that a beloved character may make an appearance in season 5 based on recent interviews. Proceed with caution as potential spoilers follow.

Will Joseph Quinn return for Stranger Things season 5? It’s sounding that way

Joseph Quinn was introduced as the new character, Eddie Munson, on “Stranger Things” during its fifth season. Known for his skillful guitar playing and passion for Dungeons & Draggers, Eddie was a laid-back young man. Unfortunately, Eddie met his demise at the end of the season, leaving fans speculating about potential ways he could reappear. Some possibilities include flashbacks, dream sequences, or even bizarre Upside Down occurrences.

Based on Quinn’s statements in interviews, there are hints suggesting that Eddie may return, but his confirmation is uncertain. For instance, when ET expressed their belief that Eddie would come back, Quinn responded with ambiguity, “You have a feeling, huh. I might have that feeling, too… Or maybe I don’t? Who knows!” In another instance, a fan asked him directly if he was returning at a convention, and he replied cryptically, “I do know…but I’m not telling you.”

Recently, Quinn was a guest on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast with host Josh Horowitz. He was asked about the upcoming fifth season of the show, and responded with enthusiasm. “I’m looking forward to seeing how they pull it off,” Quinn stated. “I believe it will exceed all our previous expectations based on some ideas I’ve heard.”

Horowitz was taken aback when Quinn mentioned knowing about the new season’s details, as this info is usually kept secret. However, Quinn simply replied with a shrug and an excited tone, “I’m just looking forward to it. I’m not revealing any information.”

I’ve heard whispers. I had to tie them to a chair and get it out of them! But I do know now, I know some bits, and it sounds very exciting. I’m very excited to see how they pull it off, and I’ve no doubts that it’s very much within all of their capacities — the showrunners, the direction, the cast, everything…I think it’s going to be a wonderful swan song to that incredible TV show.

Based on my prediction, Eddie is likely to make an appearance in “Stranger Things” season 5. However, we’ll have to wait until 2025 for confirmation. In the meantime, keep an eye out for Quinn in “Gladiator II,” which is set to be released this November.
