Tom Sandoval reversing invasion-of-privacy suit against Ariana Madix: 'I hold no ill will'

As a film enthusiast and avid viewer of “Vanderpump Rules,” I’ve watched Tom Sandoval’s rollercoaster journey with both fascination and disappointment. The recent legal scuffle between him and his ex-girlfriend Ariana Madix has been a shocking turn of events, one that has left many fans questioning the future of their favorite Bravo show.

Tom Sandoval, a cast member on “Vanderpump Rules,” has decided to drop the legal dispute between him and his former girlfriend, Ariana Madix.

Last year’s infidelity scandal involving Sandoval shocked the “Vanderpump Rules” fan community, but he has made it clear that he does not plan to sue his ex-girlfriend legally, despite advice from a former lawyer to file a cross-complaint in Los Angeles this week. The complaint was connected to a larger lawsuit initiated by co-star Rachel Leviss against Sandoval and Madix in February. She accused them of eavesdropping, distributing revenge porn, invasion of privacy, and intentionally causing emotional distress.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Sandoval shared that attorney Matthew Geragos informed me that such actions are typical and solely intended for preventative measures in lawsuits of this nature. He encouraged me to consent, and neither the terms “new lawsuit” nor “suing” were explicitly used during our conversation.

Geragos, who Sandoval claimed he parted ways with following the filing of the cross-complain, didn’t get back to The Times on Friday.

On Tuesday, a counter-lawsuit was submitted in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. In this filing, Sandoval, aged 40, asserted that Madix, 38, invaded his privacy. The document claimed that Madix had accessed Sandoval’s phone in the year 2023 without his consent or permission. Reportedly, she examined various contents such as images, information, data, videos, and communications. Among these were sexually explicit FaceTime conversations featuring co-star Rachel Leviss, 29, which led to the revelation of the Sandoval infidelity scandal.

Madix is accused of making duplicates of the explicit videos featuring Leviss and sharing them with both Leviss and other individuals without Sandoval’s permission, as stated in the lawsuit. Sandoval aimed to recover monetary compensation for harm done, court costs, and additional damages.

Jordan Susman, representing Madix, criticized Sandoval and the accusations made against him in a statement given to The Times. He further alleged that Sandoval was attempting to avoid taking accountability for the consequences of his actions towards Madix.

On Friday, Susman expressed satisfaction through a statement to The Times, indicating that Sandoval intends to drop his counterclaim against Madix.

He stated: “The whole lawsuit brought against Ms. Madix is baseless, and it won’t be long before it gets thrown out in its entirety.”

Sandoval admitted in his Thursday declaration that he failed to conduct sufficient research before taking legal action against Ariana, and he reiterated that he has no intention of filing a lawsuit against her. He also announced his intent to withdraw the counterclaim.

“I bear no grudge or desire for revenge against Ariana. By dropping the Cross-Complaint and the lawyer who suggested it, I aim to wrap up this case as soon as possible. This way, Ariana and I can both put this behind us and focus on moving forward in our lives.”

For nearly a decade, Sandoval and Madix shared a romantic bond. However, in March 2023, Madix discovered that Sandoval had been unfaithful to her with their co-star, Leviss. Just after People reported on the Sandoval-Madix separation, both Sandoval and Leviss issued apologies – which have since been removed from Instagram – for their roles in the infidelity. This scandal generated buzz among “Vanderpump Rules” enthusiasts as well as those unfamiliar with the show. Moreover, it catapulted each cast member into unwanted national limelight.

I’ve been closely following the developments of the “Scandoval” saga, and a year later, it seems this tabloid controversy isn’t letting up for Sandoval, Madix, and Leviss. This trio continues to make headlines, with no end in sight until next year at least. The much-anticipated trial for Leviss’ revenge-porn case against Sandoval and Madix is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in November 2025.
