Young Jedi Adventures recap: The Young Jedi

Young Jedi Adventures recap: The Young Jedi

As a long-time fan of Star Wars, I must say that “Young Jedi Adventures” is a refreshing and exciting addition to the franchise! The opening episode, “The Young Jedi,” captivated me from the very beginning with its charming characters and action-packed adventure.

The opening scene of the debut episode titled “The Novice Jedis” unfolds on Coruscant, where Jedi Master Yoda addresses a gathering of young Jedis and their mentors. These pupils are about to embark on a journey to remote temple outposts, where they’ll mature, discover, and deepen their understanding of the Force during their stay.

After everyone is sent away, Master Zia Zanna searches for the young ones to head towards her temple on Tenoo. However, three of them are nowhere to be found: Lys Solay, Nubs, and Kai Brightstar.

The trio of young trainees are in the lightsaber practice room. Across the way stands a beacon they aim to capture to set a new personal best before their departure to Tenoo. Eager to achieve this feat, Lys provokes the training droids’ attacks while Nubs employs the Force to nudge Kai towards the beacon. Nevertheless, Kai insists on tackling all the droids single-handedly, disregarding his companions’ offers of assistance.

Unfortunately, Kai stumbles and loses his lightsaber. In a flash, Lys and Nubs jump into the fray, ready to stand by him – after all, friendship means helping one another. It’s not always about solo missions for Kai. With their combined efforts, these younglings bravely ward off the droids and secure the beacon. They even surpassed their previous best performance!

Master Zia phones in, urging them to speed up. The shuttles bound for Planet Tenoo are about to depart. She plans to greet them upon their arrival on the celestial body.

Inside the hangar, it’s Nash Durango, the one in command of the shuttle, along with her droid RJ-83. They are in the midst of repairs when some young ones show up. The Jedi are taken aback to see a child like themselves at the helm, but Nash quickly reminds them that they’re all kids here! A round of introductions follows, and Nash proudly presents her ship, the Crimson Firehawk. She shares that her parents gifted her this ship, and her family operates a shuttle business transporting goods across the galaxy.

They board the ship and head out for Tenoo.

As they traverse hyperspace, Nash guides them through the vessel. In the rear of the ship, there’s a container labeled ‘Giggs’, housing a blurry Gedonian Ground Weevil on its way to an animal sanctuary. Lys, known for her affinity with creatures, tenderly picks up and strokes the small animal.

Kai feels thrilled upon spotting Nash’s holographic game table, as Jedi apprentices seldom had such luxuries at the temple. When Nash inquires about their activities, Kai elaborates on how they learn to transform into Jedi Knights and master the Force. Eager to witness mind-moving abilities, Nash queries. However, Lys mentions that it’s possible but requires energy, focus, and practice. They emphasize that the Force isn’t meant for casual demonstrations or party tricks.

RJ announces their approach, and the vessel exits hyperspace above Tenoo, the chosen abode for the younglings. However, before they can descend onto the land, Nash receives a distress call from her pal Hap. It seems some pirates are causing trouble at his café, and he’s pleading for assistance!

Originally, he had been optimistic that Nash would deliver the Jedi she was carrying to offer assistance. However, upon seeing that these Jedi were young ones, he felt dismayed. Yet, Kai affirmed that their youth didn’t diminish their potential for help. That’s what being a Jedi is all about!

In the city of Kublop Springs, on the planet Tenoo, the pirate Taborr Val Dorn and his band of EB-3 and Pord associates stride into Hap’s café, known as Hap’s Sap Tap, which is nestled within a colossal tree. Taborr revels in his life as a pirate, seizing whatever he pleases.

As I approach, Nash sends me a call if there’s any assistance needed. With a swift stride, I set off to put an end to Taborr!

Kai orders Taborr to return Hap’s belongings, but the pirate refuses, finding humor in the situation since he doesn’t take commands from Jedi. Instead, he gathers his crew to collect Hap’s items and loads them onto his ship. In response, Taborr takes out his electro staff to confront Kai. Meanwhile, Lys and Nubs work to contain EB and Pord while the battle between Kai and Taborr ensues.

In a fierce struggle, Taborr resorts to underhanded tactics, tugging on enormous tree limbs to smash the café. Meanwhile, Kai employs the Force, but the weight of the branches proves too much! Stepping in, Lys and Nubs lend a hand! United, they manage to ease the branches away from danger, thereby rescuing Hap’s beloved café!

It seems that Taborr might escape unscathed with Hap’s possessions, but Kai has devised a strategy! He summons reinforcements, including their latest acquaintances.

In this scenario, Nash swiftly approaches as RJ links a wire to a laden trolley in an attempt to reclaim it. Pord and EB then pull the trolley, preventing RJ’s success. This slight delay was all that was needed for the young ones to catch up!

Nash and Kai repeat the maneuver they used to break their record at the Jedi Temple, but this time, Kai enjoys the support of his companions.

Taborr’s anger boils over from his defeat, vowing revenge against the Jedi. With his team, he plans to retaliate and then make a hasty exit.

After the thrill had subsided, Nash escorted the young ones to their fresh abode at the Tenoo Jedi Temple. Master Zia warmly welcomed them, expressing her immense pride in how they defended the town. She extended a hearty welcome to the young ones, Nash, and RJ into the temple community.

This is where Young Jedi Adventures “The Young Jedi” ends.
