The highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is now playing in theaters. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt reprise their beloved roles as Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, and Emily Charlton in this follow-up to the 2006 hit movie.
Andy is back at Runway, but the magazine is facing difficulties and needs to adapt to the evolving media world. They’re hoping former employee Emily can help them turn things around.

Filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2 happened in both New York City and Milan. New York City was the primary location, and the movie recreated the Runway offices, making them much larger – eight times bigger than the original.
Production designer Jess Gonchor said they were able to create a more expansive set this time around. They drew inspiration from the desks at Vogue‘s office, creating long, shared workspaces, but made theirs even more dramatic.

The Vermont estate belonging to Sasha Barnes was actually filmed at Billy Joel’s mansion on Long Island – a location that happened to be for sale while the show was being planned. Similarly, Miranda’s Hamptons house was filmed at a nearby property, just a few houses away.
The gala scene in Runway was shot outside the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Just like the first film, the entrance to Elias-Clarke was modeled after the lobby of McGraw-Hill. The sequel also reused the same Upper East Side townhouse that appeared in the 2006 movie.

So, we filmed some stuff in Milan too! Remember that big fashion show in Runway? That was at this amazing art school called The Accademia di Brera. They picked it because it was private, and honestly, they needed to keep Lady Gaga’s cameo a secret! Originally, they wanted to shoot at the Milan Cathedral, but Brera ended up being a much better choice for keeping everything under wraps.
The scenes featuring Benji Barnes’s Lake Como villa were filmed at Villa Balbiano, a beautiful events space. Exterior and lobby shots of the hotel were filmed at Palazzo Parigi, with some interior scenes shot in New York’s Woolworth Mansion.
So, when they were filming The Devil Wears Prada 2, they didn’t just stick to one place in Milan! They shot scenes at a bunch of amazing locations, like Villa Arconati, the courtyard of the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, Palazzo Clerici, and the super famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It really helped capture that high-fashion vibe, you know?
However, Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper Museum created interior shots on a soundstage.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is out now in cinemas.
