Honestly, in 2026, everyone’s still obsessed with open-world games. They’re massive projects, way bigger than most other games, so it’s pretty rare to see a really good one come from a small indie team. That’s why it’s such a big deal when an indie actually nails it, especially if they make it free-to-play!
Released in 2024, FOUNDRY is a highly-rated sci-fi adventure game with “Very Positive” reviews – many consider it a 9 out of 10 title. It’s currently available for free on Steam, but this offer ends on May 11th, so fans of the genre should check it out now!
FOUNDRY is a Free Open World Sci-Game Game Available Now on Steam
FOUNDRY, created by Channel 3 Entertainment and published by Paradox Interactive, is an open-world game where you run a large robotics company. You’ll gather resources, manage production, and oversee complex systems to make your business successful.
I’m so excited about FOUNDRY! Since it came out in 2024, it’s already gotten almost 2,000 reviews on Steam, and people really seem to be enjoying it – it has a “Very Positive” rating even though it’s still being developed! The best part? You can play it for free right now until May 11th!
Steam is also running other deals for players interested in buying FOUNDRY permanently. The game is currently discounted from its usual price of $29.99 to $20.99 until May 14th. You can also get the upgraded “Founder’s Edition” for $24.99 instead of $34.99, but this offer also ends on May 14th.
FOUNDRY is a factory-building game where you design and create massive, automated robot production lines. Set in an endless, procedurally generated world, you’ll land on a new planet and, with the help of your AI companion Carl, build a sprawling factory. You’ll then manage interstellar trade, selling your robots across the galaxy to become the ultimate industrial power.
The game lets you start by gathering resources by hand, then advance to running a fully automated factory. You can also unlock cool decorations, build huge machines, and discover new technologies through research.
The game’s Steam page addresses concerns about its use of AI, explaining that it was used to add details that would have been difficult to create otherwise. Specifically, AI generated the voiceovers for the AI character in multiple languages – a fitting choice, given the character’s nature. All other art and visual elements were created by human artists.
