The Sims 4 fans spot Wednesday reference in Life & Death expansion

As a dedicated fan of both The Sims series and the enigmatic Wednesday Adams from Netflix, I was absolutely thrilled to discover the delightful Easter egg hidden within the Life & Death expansion trailer for The Sims 4. The sight of one of my beloved simulated characters gracefully executing the signature dance move from Wednesday’s viral school dance scene left me utterly elated!

Fans of The Sims 4 have successfully identified a nod to ‘Hump Day’ (a common term for Wednesday) within the Life & Death expansion pack.

Yesterday, on October 3rd, we got a glimpse of the new expansion through its recently unveiled trailer. This preview showcases a Sim who embarks on a journey to seize every moment after losing someone dear.

At 1 minute and 43 seconds, while crossing off yet another wish from her bucket list by reuniting with her family, this Sim appears to be performing a dance reminiscent of the one popularized in Netflix’s Wednesday show.

At the school dance in Nevermore, Jenna Ortega’s main character danced to the track ‘Goo Goo Muck’ by The Cramps, a dance routine she personally designed.

The subtle dance move shown by the Sim in the trailer didn’t go unnoticed by fans. One fan expressed on X: “The Wednesday-style dance the Sim performed in the trailer was just what I needed to purchase the pack, as a creator of primarily alternative/gothic Sims, living through them is all I aspire for in life.

Another commented, “What I found most appealing in the trailer was the hairstyle with bangs and the dance scene featuring Wednesday.

A third posted a clip of the two dances side-by-side, commenting: “NOW WAIT A SEC! I NEED TO SEE THE FULL CHOREO OF THAT DANCE ANIMATION.”

Even though the dance was well-received, Ortega confessed that she often ponders over it during sleepless nights, believing there were improvements she could have made.

Last year, I shared that certain parts of the performance were pre-planned, while others were spontaneous improvisations – moments that still keep me awake at night pondering over them.

It’s hard for me to comprehend that anyone would appreciate what I did or even attempt it on their own, given all the things I could have and should have done differently.

The Sims 4 Life & Death is out on October 31 on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.
