This was her first Mother’s Day since her divorce from Hugo Taylor, which finalized in February after seven years of marriage.
Millie Mackintosh, known for her time on the reality show Made In Chelsea and with a large following of 1.3 million on Instagram, felt it was important to share her experiences as a single mother with her followers.
She shared photos online with her daughters, Sienna, age six, and Aurelia, age five, and admitted that being a mom isn’t always easy.
Millie explained that it’s hard to truly understand a mother’s experiences until you become a parent yourself.
Since becoming a mom in 2020, Millie has built her public image around the idea of balancing motherhood with self-care.
She portrays a luxurious life online, filled with gym visits, professional makeup, and red-carpet events, all while appearing to raise her children independently. Since 2022, she’s stopped mentioning any childcare or household help on her social media.
In a recent Instagram post, she shared a personal realization: she’d lost touch with prioritizing her own needs. She used to believe self-care made her a bad mother, but now understands that taking time for herself actually helps her be a better person.
People close to Millie say her portrayal of raising her children on her own doesn’t match the reality of the situation.
I’ve discovered that behind the seemingly perfect images of her life as a single parent, she actually employs a nanny who also creates content for her.
Okay, so I’ve been following her for ages, and I’ve heard from people who are close to her that the reason she always says she can ‘prioritize me’ – meaning, spend time responding to fans like me! – is because she has a nanny. It’s a little…disappointing, honestly. A lot of us who admire her are moms ourselves, and we don’t all have help like that. It feels like she’s not being totally real with us about what her life is actually like.
I’ve noticed something really interesting lately. It’s not just about childcare with the new nanny; she’s also responsible for taking photos of the kids! Apparently, Millie wants these pictures for her Instagram feed – she’s calling her a ‘content creator nanny,’ which is a totally new thing to me, but it seems to be what’s expected now.
‘But the nanny cannot be in pictures at all costs.’
Millie’s team has stated that the photos were not taken by paparazzi, but rather by her friends and family.
Insiders say ‘it’s completely fine to hire help with childcare’.
News that she secretly works as a content creator while being a nanny surfaced after a challenging year for the star, following her February split from reality TV personality Taylor.
Problems in their marriage began last May when Mille admitted she was attracted to women. She shared that during her struggles with alcohol, she had previously kissed girls while intoxicated.
People close to Millie and Taylor say she came to understand her sexuality, which created distance between them and eventually led to Taylor moving out of their Chelsea home earlier this year. Despite the separation, they both stated they are dedicated to raising their daughters together and maintaining a stable environment for them.
They began dating over twenty years ago on the reality show Made In Chelsea, and their relationship has always been quite dramatic.
In the season two finale of the show, which aired in 2011, Millie unexpectedly accused Taylor of having an affair with her close friend and co-star, Rosie Fortescue, during a shocking toast.
Following their argument, Millie married rapper Professor Green in 2013, having a grand wedding at Babington House in Somerset. However, the marriage ended after just two years, with Millie later calling the relationship ‘toxic’.
She eventually confessed she knew the relationship wasn’t healthy, but she was afraid to end it because she didn’t want to disappoint people.
‘We both had our own struggles. And it was actually quite toxic.’
I was so shocked when I found out they officially divorced in 2016 – and then, unbelievably, she announced she and Taylor were back together the very same week! It was a total whirlwind.
Let me tell you, life has been a whirlwind! After getting engaged in beautiful Mykonos, we were married in Sussex in June 2018. Our family started growing with the arrival of our sweet Sienna in 2020, and then we were blessed with Aurelia the following year. It’s been such a joy!
Millie has talked openly about needing a nanny to be able to work, saying in 2022 that she wouldn’t be able to manage her job without one during the week.
When Aurelia was born, she said she hired a night nanny to help a few nights a week.
After Sienna was born, I shared on Instagram that I wasn’t allowed to lift her for six weeks following my C-section, so having help has been really important.
I’m really happy with my nanny who looks after the baby during the day. I’ve also been getting a night nanny a few times a week, which has allowed me to get some much-needed sleep and has been a huge relief.
‘Hugo had two weeks of paternity leave and my mum and close friends have been a big support too.’
Since that interview, Millie hasn’t mentioned a nanny on social media, and her fans probably haven’t seen it.
Her followers, however, see a flawless Instagram profile showcasing ‘Motherhood, Wellness, Fashion, and Beauty’ – all areas she says she manages independently.
A representative for Millie stated that she’s always been upfront about getting help with childcare, something she’s discussed publicly in interviews and on social media. Like many working parents, she occasionally needs assistance due to her job. Fortunately, the flexible nature of her work means she only requires this help infrequently. This support is completely separate from her social media accounts and has no connection to them.
