The Perfect Couple episode 3 review: The Winburys are anything but the perfect family

The Perfect Couple episode 3 review: The Winburys are anything but the perfect family

As a seasoned gamer and mystery enthusiast with a penchant for suspenseful storytelling, I must admit that “The Perfect Couple” has certainly piqued my interest. The third episode, “The Perfect Family,” was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, filled with unexpected twists and turns that left me guessing at every corner.

It’s now time for us to discuss the third installment of The Perfect Couple, humorously named “The Perfect Family,” available on Netflix. From the very start, it was evident that this family was far from perfect. However, episode 3 solidified this notion, wow! Here are my thoughts on the episode.

Initially, let’s discuss Amelia. Now, she’s not entirely detestable as the main character, but she can be quite bothersome and predictable. You know, gal, if I were in your shoes, I’d aim to be a keen investigator and strive to unravel the mystery. Instead of firing off questions such as ‘Why do you require people to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements, and what became of Mae Pratt?’ try to approach things more subtly. That way, you might have a better chance at solving the puzzle.

It’s consistently bothersome when the primary character, who’s supposed to be the moral compass, acts this way, and it holds true for Amelia as well. Apologies. Dinners with family at the table can either bring a sense of warmth or lead to comedic chaos, and the one in “The Perfect Family” definitely veered towards the chaotic side. Tom appears uncaring and unstable when responding to Amelia’s question about Mae Pratt. Honestly speaking, Tag, it seems like he’s sleeping with everyone, doesn’t it?

My distaste for Benji persists, as his behavior seems suspicious to me. I find myself curious about the reason behind his numerous photos of Merritt and frequent phone calls to her. Could it be that he harbors secret feelings for her, or is there some other explanation? Given the voicemails, maybe Benji was aware of Tag and Merritt’s affair – I can’t say for sure though.

In regards to Greer, it’s evident that she’s not without flaws. However, she plays a crucial role in maintaining her family, offering support in various aspects beyond the call of duty. For instance, she’s long been enduring Tag’s infidelities and is shouldering a significant portion of the financial responsibilities since the Winbury funds are tied up in a trust. This demanding schedule is likely due to her consistent publication of 1-2 books annually. To be frank, I understand why she exerts control; after all, she’s the one keeping them all afloat amidst a lack of appreciation from others.

In the finale, we’re left hanging with the suspense that Will, disregarding the perilous weather, boards the boat, causing concern yet again for Chloe who is unwillingly involved. It’s evident that Will needs to relax and compose himself, but his secret possession of the gold bracelet and traces of his blood and fingerprints at the crime scene raise questions about his involvement in Merritt’s death. However, given the nature of murder mysteries, I doubt it’s Will who is the killer. The show seems to be misdirecting us, likely holding back the true culprit until the final episode. If you’re a regular viewer like me, you might have noticed this typical pattern. Take my word for it.

As we’ve reached the midpoint of this six-episode series, it seems that not all mysteries are being unveiled at once, which is understandable. However, I find myself wishing for a faster pace since much of each episode revolves around familiar topics or information we’ve already been introduced to, with only occasional fresh revelations.

All 6 episodes of The Perfect Couple are now streaming on Netflix.
