The House of the Dragon season 2 finale trailer looks lit, crazy and action-packed

As a hardcore fan of “Game of Thrones” and now “House of the Dragon,” I’ve grown accustomed to the intricate plotlines, unexpected twists, and high-stakes political maneuvering that make these shows so addictive. And let me tell you, the second season of “House of the Dragon” has had its moments. The Battle of Rook’s Rest was a thrilling highlight, and Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen’s assembly of her dragonrider army, or as she puts it, “an army of bastards,” has built some much-needed momentum.

The second installment of “House of the Dragon” has boasted some impressive peaks, such as the exhilarating Battle of Rook’s Rest. Additionally, the recent episodes have gained traction with Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen amassing a formidable dragonrider squad, which she refers to as “an army of bastards.” Simultaneously, I believe this season has experienced some lulls. Despite an ongoing war, numerous characters appear stuck in limbo.

Based on the trailer, it seems that the season 2 finale will be packed with excitement and possibly some dramatic moments. Feel free to check it out by clicking the link above.

The variety of distinct characters, settings, and occurrences shown in this preview truly amazes me.

  • Lots. Of. Armies. I spot Lannister, Stark, Hightower and Tully flags.
  • The Hightower flags are of special note. We’ve been hearing for awhile that Alicent’s son Daeron is out in the Reach, and that his dragon Tessarion is finally ready to ride. If I’m not mistaken, that’s Tessarion flying above the Hightower army on the march! I thought we wouldn’t actually see those guys this season, only hear about them, but maybe I’m wrong!
  • The Velaryon fleet is also on the move. After a season of Alyn of Hull hanging out on that dock on Driftmark, I’m very ready for a change of scenery.
  • We also see what appears to be the Triarchy fleet. Remember that Aemond sent Tyland Lannister to treat with them a couple episodes back. He mixes it up with that lot next week.
  • That appears to be Syrax flying over the Tully banners, which means that Rhaenyra is liking visiting Harrenhal, which means that she’ll probably reunite with Daemon.
  • Speaking of Daemon, it sounds like Ser Alfred Broome has finally reached Harrenhal; remember that Rhaenyra dispatched him there a few episodes back. “While you have mustered an army, Rhaenya has faltered,” he says. That’s hilarious considering how much Daemon has bungled around this season.
  • We have a Helaena Targaryen sighting! And Aemond is asking her to ride her dragon Dreamfyre into battle in response to Rhaenyra assembling her new bastard air force. I think this is the first time Dreamfyre has been mentioned by name on the show! And I’m happy for any screentime Helaena can get.
  • Aemond is clearly upset about Rhaenyra’s new effort. We see that he’s burned some town. Alicent is not happy about it.

I’ve seen my fair share of speeches in my time, and some are truly memorable. Criston Cole isn’t my favorite character, but I must admit, he knows how to deliver a line that leaves an impression. In the trailer, he speaks with a gravitas that sends shivers down my spine. “The dragons dance and men are like dust under their feet,” he declares early on. It’s a haunting image, one that resonates deeply with my experience of witnessing the raw power of nature and the fragility of human life.

Based on the trailer, I’ll hold off passing judgment until we watch the episode. It looks thrilling to have everyone in motion and taking action again. The second season finale of “House of the Dragon” on HBO and Max is coming up next Sunday, August 4. Let’s see how it all unfolds!
