Taylor Swift’s ‘feud’ with power music producer Jack Antonoff takes a new turn

Rumors have been circulating among fans that she’s feuding with her longtime producer, Jack Antonoff, because he didn’t work on her latest album.

Taylor Swift recently clarified her relationship with Jack Antonoff, a frequent collaborator on her popular songs, in a new interview released on Tuesday.

In an interview with the New York Times, the 36-year-old singer said she and producer Antonoff, 42, remain friends.

‘Jack Antonoff is a collaborator of mine and one of my best friends,’ she stated, via Just Jared.

This announcement follows Swift’s recent display of a friendly relationship with Antonoff, as she hosted him at a dinner with her father and friends earlier this week.

Swift described the songwriting process she and Antonoff have perfected through their collaborations.

She described something they created, a ‘rant bridge,’ as a way to freely express themselves. It’s like letting thoughts and feelings flow out, mixing emotions, random ideas, and vivid descriptions, sometimes even with passionate outbursts and conversation.

Taylor Swift explains that the ‘rant bridge’ in her songs is meant to fully capture and amplify the core emotion the song is building towards, creating a powerful climax.

After Taylor Swift’s twelfth album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl,’ came out in October 2025, some fans worried that she and producer Jack Antonoff might have had a disagreement.

For the first time since her 2014 album 1989, Jack Antonoff wasn’t credited as having worked on the album.

Instead, Swift worked exclusively with Max Martin and Shellback as producers and co-writers.

The album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ marked a return for the three artists, who had previously worked together in 2017 on ‘Reputation’.

Prior to this, Martin and Shellback were the main producers of the 1989 album. Martin also co-produced two of the album’s tracks – “Out Of The Woods” and “I Wish You Would” – alongside Antonoff, as he co-wrote those songs with Swift.

Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff first worked together in 2013 on the song “Sweeter Than Fiction,” which was included on the soundtrack for the movie One Chance.

Taylor Swift’s 2019 album, Lover, really showcased her strong working relationship with Jack Antonoff, who produced and helped write most of the songs on it.

While Jack Antonoff’s involvement was less prominent on Taylor Swift’s surprise albums, Folklore and Evermore – which were mainly produced by Aaron Dessner of The National – he still contributed to several songs on each record.

Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff teamed up again for her 2022 album, Midnights, and he also produced and co-wrote most of her 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department.

The later album, available as both a single CD and a double CD, didn’t receive as good of reviews as Taylor Swift’s more recent work. Many fans felt the quality had dropped, and they often pointed to her long partnership with Antonoff as the reason.

When Taylor Swift didn’t credit Jack Antonoff on her album The Life of a Showgirl, many fans worried they had stopped working together.

Surprisingly, despite many fans wanting Taylor Swift to collaborate with Martin and Shellback once more, the new songs they produced together actually received even more negative reviews than her album, The Tortured Poets Department.

As a big fan, I was really happy to see ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ get a 69 on Metacritic! That score is calculated from lots of different reviews, and even though it’s not perfect, it still means most critics generally liked it, which I totally agree with!
