
Taylor Sheridan’s new show, a sequel to Yellowstone, quickly became the most-watched program on Paramount+ globally. The first two episodes were released on May 15th.
According to data from FlixPatrol, Dutton Ranch is now the most popular show on Paramount+, as of May 18, 2026. It’s surpassed Y: Marshals to reach the number one spot. Several other shows created by Taylor Sheridan are also in the global Top 10, including Yellowstone at number four and Tulsa King at number six. Dutton Ranch continues the story of Yellowstone and features Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser returning as their beloved characters.
In Dutton Ranch, Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton risk everything to begin a new life in South Texas. However, they’re quickly reminded of their past from Yellowstone and face tough challenges from a competing ranch. The first season has nine episodes, released weekly on Fridays until July 3rd.
Dutton Ranch Continues Yellowstone’s Legacy Flawlessly
Beyond its popularity on Paramount+, the new series Dutton Ranch is also performing well as a digital rental or purchase on Apple TV and Amazon. Clearly, fans of Taylor Sheridan’s work are excited about Dutton Ranch, and early reviews suggest it’s living up to the hype.
The first season of Dutton Ranch has earned a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with 85% of critics giving it positive reviews. Critics agree that the show successfully builds on the strengths of its previous series, offering familiar and enjoyable entertainment in a new setting.
Most viewers agree with the critics’ positive reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, about 80 out of 100 user reviews are favorable. Many reviewers specifically highlighted the strong connection between the actors playing Beth and Rip, and some called the show a ‘must-watch’ now that those characters are back.
Even viewers disappointed with Sheridan’s recent work found something to enjoy in Dutton Ranch. One Rotten Tomatoes user gave the show four stars, writing, “I was pleasantly surprised! My expectations were low after his previous releases, but I really like the first two episodes and plan to keep watching.”
Dutton Ranch Introduces New Characters to Yellowstone’s Universe
Fans are enjoying watching the relationship between Beth and Rip grow on Dutton Ranch, and the show is also introducing new characters to Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone world. Fin Little returns as Carter, the son Beth and Rip have adopted, and the cast now includes the owner of the competing 10 Petal Ranch.
Joining the main cast are Juan Pablo Raba, known for his role in Netflix’s Narcos, and Jai Courtney, who starred in Suicide Squad, playing Beulah’s sons, Joaquin and Rob-Will. J.R. Villarreal and Marc Menchaca play ranch hands hired by Rip, and Natalie Alyn Lind (from Gotham) stars as Everett McKinney, while Oreana Lynn Jackson plays herself.
The first two episodes of Dutton Ranch are now streaming on Paramount+.
