Epic predicts that governments worldwide may start to challenge Apple’s fees and rules for the App Store. We’re already seeing this happen in places like Japan, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, and Brazil is now taking action as well. Currently, Australia isn’t part of this global movement.
So, Epic says Apple is still sticking to rules they think are unfair. Basically, unless Apple changes how payments work, or a court steps in, it looks like Fortnite’s staying off iPhones and iPads in Australia. It’s frustrating as a player, honestly – I just want to play on the go!
In May 2025, Fortnite was once again available on the US App Store after being absent from iOS devices for almost five years. However, Apple briefly stopped accepting new versions of the game from Epic Games right after the initial return.
In August 2025, Epic Games won a significant legal case in Australia, which is bringing Fortnite closer to being available there again, though the process isn’t fully complete yet.
In December 2025, Fortnite made a big return to Android devices in the US after being unavailable for a while. Then, in March 2026, Epic Games and Google resolved their differences, which meant Fortnite could be downloaded through the Google Play Store worldwide again.
