Sylvester Stallone’s Classic 29-Year-Old Crime Thriller Is Officially Being Remade Into A TV Series

A classic Sylvester Stallone thriller is getting remade for television.

The thriller film Cop Land stars Sylvester Stallone as the sheriff of a quiet New Jersey town. The story centers around his growing conflict with a group of dishonest New York City police officers who have moved into his community. Featuring a strong ensemble cast including Robert De Niro, Peter Berg, Janeane Garofalo, and others, the movie was well-received by critics and grossed $63 million in theaters.

According to Deadline, a TV series based on the 1997 film Cop Land is being developed. James Mangold, who worked on the original movie, will be back as a writer, director, and executive producer. This marks his return to television after a nearly ten-year absence, and the series will be produced by Paramount Television Studios and Miramax Television.
