Imagine there are countless versions of yourself watching Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin repeatedly pick Conrad Fisher, just like in the show The Summer I Turned Pretty. Someone – maybe one of those versions of you – really needs to pause and think about what’s happening.
Instead of endlessly rewatching their perfect Christmas moments or starting the series from the beginning again, maybe it’s time to do something different.
Before the new movie comes out, check out the new Prime Video series, Off Campus. It’s sure to be your next binge-worthy obsession!

The show doesn’t immediately grab your attention. The initial introduction of the main characters – Hannah Wells, a music student and songwriter played by Ella Bright, and Garrett Graham, an ice hockey player played by Belmont Cameli – feels a bit cliché.
The story falls into familiar genre patterns, especially when it tries to build its world. It depends too much on romantic clichés to make the characters’ connection believable, and this lack of nuance makes them come across as flat. The passionate moments, at first, don’t feel very intense.
Fortunately, the movie eventually becomes engaging. Off Campus draws viewers in using familiar and popular tropes like enemies falling in love and a pretend relationship.
What to Read Next
Once you get past the slow beginning, Hannah Garrett’s character starts to shine, and you’ll find yourself wanting to see what happens next. It’s enough to make you watch another episode.
The story feels a lot like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. It’s hard not to see the similarities – a hidden attraction between two people who initially misunderstand each other, brought together by chance and destined for something new.

Okay, so watching this show totally gave me To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before vibes – think Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean! But honestly, it hooked me in the same way The Summer I Turned Pretty did. Even when Belly’s problems were a little… much, I still needed to know what happened next. I just had to keep watching!
Okay, so “Off Campus” is already giving me that wonderfully awkward, second-hand embarrassment vibe, but thankfully, unlike binge-watching “The Summer I Turned Pretty” week by week, Prime Video dropped the whole season at once! That means I can just dive in and watch the whole Hannah and Garrett romance unfold without having to wait. Huge win!
The first episode hints at more serious problems beneath the surface of their pretend relationship, suggesting past hurts and difficult family pressures will come into play as the story unfolds.
If handled effectively, these characters’ detailed and emotional pasts will add depth to the story we’re already seeing.
All episodes of Off Campus are available to stream now on Prime Video.
