Strong winds cause havoc at Stagecoach, festival postponed, fans evacuated

Strong winds at the Stagecoach festival have caused organizers, Goldenvoice, to postpone Saturday night’s events until further notice. Festival attendees are currently being evacuated.

A message appeared on the festival’s main stage screens announcing an emergency evacuation and stating that the festival was postponed until further notice. Attendees were asked to exit quickly and calmly.

So, things got a little wild at the festival! The city of Indio was under a wind advisory all day, but it really started to pick up right as Teddy Swims was performing on the Mane Stage around 5 p.m. The National Weather Service had issued the advisory earlier, around 2 p.m., but honestly, you didn’t feel it until the music started. As a film and music lover, I was worried about the stages, but everyone seemed to handle it well.

Thousands of festival attendees left the event grounds. Although screens displayed evacuation instructions and the Stagecoach app sent an alert, some emergency exits between the stage and entrance remained blocked by security personnel.

More to come…
