The first trailer for the new Street Fighter movie is out, and it features characters with costumes directly inspired by the popular Capcom video game series. The movie boasts a well-known cast and is already getting positive reactions from fans.
The film takes place in 1993, just before the well-known movie adaptation with Raul Julia and Kylie Minogue was released. It centers on legendary martial artists Ken and Ryu, who are past their prime and struggling with fading relevance.
Chun-Li invites fighters to join a new World Warrior tournament, but a dangerous secret hidden within the competition could put the entire world at risk.

The movie features a star-studded cast including Noah Centineo, David Dastmalchian, and Jason Momoa, playing Ken, M. Bison, and Blanka. Joining them are comedian Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki and Eric André as Don Sauvage. Rounding out the cast are rapper 50 Cent as Balrog and country artist Orville Peck as Vega.
Okay, so this is awesome – Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Hirooki Goto are all getting in on the action! They’re playing as Akuma, Guile, and E Honda, which is already cool, but it gets even better. Callina Liang is stepping into the shoes of Chun-Li, and Vidyut Jammwal is taking on Dhalsim. Seriously, the lineup for this is incredible!

One fan described the movie as wonderfully ’90s and delightfully silly, sharing “Day one for this movie!” Another viewer praised the film’s approach, saying it successfully captured the spirit of ’90s action comedies with fun, realistic fight scenes and a lighthearted tone.

Someone excitedly noted how amazing it is to see both faithful Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter movies released in the same year.
People are describing the movie as delightfully over-the-top – campy, cheesy, and even a little embarrassing, but in a good way! Many are thrilled with its creativity and energy, saying it perfectly captures the spirit of Street Fighter. One viewer said it’s exactly what they wanted, and another was happy the filmmakers embraced the silliness, finding it visually appealing.
“‘PERFECT’, it sure is!!!” said a further fan.
Street Fighter will be released in cinemas 16 October.
