Plot of land that once hosted Bella and Gigi Hadid’s childhood home before LA fires destroyed it sells for massive fortune

The property where Bella and Gigi Hadid spent their childhood has been sold for a record amount. This happened after a fire in January 2025 destroyed the family home in Los Angeles.

TMZ reports that the 3.25-acre property, formerly called the Carbon Canyon Estate, was sold on Wednesday for $6.5 million.

That appears to mark the most expensive property sale in Malibu in the wake of the LA fires.

The property where the Hadid–Foster mansion once stood was first offered for sale at just under $12 million.

I always find it fascinating to learn the history of a home, and this one has a really interesting backstory! It used to belong to Yolanda Hadid, the mother of those famous modeling sisters, and her then-husband, David Foster. They divorced back in 2017, and the property changed hands after that.

I was absolutely heartbroken last year when I saw photos of Bella’s house burning. She shared some really frightening images on Instagram of the flames engulfing her home, and it was just devastating to see. It wasn’t just her place either – so many homes in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and all around Los Angeles were lost to those fires. It was a truly scary time.

Daniel Milstein and Aaron Kirman of Christie’s International Real Estate were the listing agents. The Daily Mail has contacted Milstein for a statement about the sale.

Speaking with TMZ, Milstein expressed pride in representing the property and achieving a new record sale price as Malibu continues to rebuild after the recent devastating fires.

Despite a challenging real estate market and recent natural disaster, the strong sale shows that buyers in Los Angeles and Malibu still recognize the value of the area.

As a lifestyle expert, I always say it’s about envisioning potential! This property listing really captured that – instead of focusing on the past damage from the fire, it showed beautiful, realistic renderings by the Bowery Design Group, letting you imagine the incredible home you could build there. It’s all about possibilities!

They dreamed of a huge house – over 14,000 square feet – with six bedrooms and ten bathrooms. It would also include fun extras like a home theater, gym, spa, game room, and plenty of space for outdoor activities.

Even though these benefits are just suggestions right now, the new property owners will still enjoy real advantages, like access to the La Costa Beach Club, which is included with the property.

The property is conveniently located near famous Malibu attractions like the Malibu Pier, Carbon Beach, and the exclusive Soho House. It’s also close to Nobu, a popular Japanese restaurant known for attracting celebrities, including the Kardashians and Jenners.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik bought their property in 2007 while they were dating, and later married in 2011.

The mansion, which was described as a ‘European-style villa,’ was snatched up for $4.5 million.

One year after marrying Foster, Hadid started appearing on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, making her house a frequent filming spot for the popular Bravo show.

She was a contestant on the reality show for four seasons, between 2012 and 2016. During that time, her three children – Bella, 30, Gigi, 30, and Anwar, 26 – all from her marriage to Mohamed Hadid, also lived there.

After the family had moved on, Kylie Jenner later rented the Malibu property for a time.

Before it burned down in the Los Angeles fires, the mansion was listed for sale for $35 million in July 2024.

Bella and her mother moved to Fort Worth, Texas. Bella wanted to be near her boyfriend, Adan Banuelos, so she bought a house there. Meanwhile, Bella’s sister, Hadid, was building a home in the same area with her fiancé, Joseph Jingoli, but they broke up and ended their engagement last June.
