Stanley Tucci reveals he has a photo of his late wife Kate meeting his future wife Felicity Blunt at The Devil Wears Prada premiere as he recalls the trauma of his cancer battle eight years after first wife’s death from disease

Stanley Tucci shared a heartwarming story: he has a photo of his late wife, Kate, meeting his current wife, Felicity Blunt. The encounter happened at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada back in 2006.

The 65-year-old actor, returning for the new movie, has married Felicity Blunt, the sister of his co-star Emily Blunt. This comes after the passing of his previous wife, Jane, who died from cancer in 2009.

In a recent interview with Town & Country, he recalled his first wife’s health struggles, which she faced while the original 2006 movie was being filmed.

I recall she called to say she’d been to the doctor, but things became hazy after that. She was unwell during filming and for the entire duration of the project.

Four years after Jane sadly passed away at the age of 47, Stanley met up with Felicity again at Emily’s wedding to John Krasinski. They eventually married and now have two children: an 11-year-old son named Matteo and an 8-year-old daughter named Emilia.

The actor, a father of three – twins Isabel and Nicolo, age 26, and Camilla, 21 – discovered he had oral cancer in 2017. Doctors found a tumor on his tongue, leading to the diagnosis.

He described the care he received as awful and deeply upsetting, explaining that it triggered painful memories of his late wife.

I was completely unable to move or care for myself. To make things even harder, my wife, Felicity, was pregnant with our second child – a three-year-old already – and she ended up giving birth in the same hospital where I was being treated. It was a terrible situation for her.

It’s been so tough seeing what my husband has gone through. His wife, Felicity, shared that his cancer treatment was really awful – she used the word ‘horrific,’ and honestly, that feels right. It’s just heartbreaking to hear how difficult it’s been for both of them.

At the Bazaar At Work Summit, the literary agent spoke about her and her husband’s shared passion for food. She openly shared that her husband, Stan, had undergone a very difficult cancer treatment, adding, ‘Stan is the same – he loves food.’

She explained that he had oral cancer, and it was devastating for him to realize he was losing his ability to speak. He ultimately needed a feeding tube to get nutrition.

I hadn’t fully realized how central food and drinks are to both our social lives and our jobs.

As a close follower, it struck me how deeply affected he was when he lost his ability to eat – it felt like it cut him off from everything he enjoyed. Watching him regain that simple pleasure after being unable to taste anything at all was such a relief, honestly it was truly scary seeing him without it.

Stan and I have always bonded over food, and sharing meals together is something we truly enjoy,” she said.

In 2021, Stanley shared that he was still deeply saddened by Kathryn’s death, admitting the pain hadn’t faded even after more than ten years.

Even after eleven years, it remains difficult,” the Academy Award-nominated actor shared with CBS Sunday Morning. “It will always be a challenge, but you can’t allow it to…

With the help of a social worker, he remembered his late wife of 14 years saying she wouldn’t want them to be consumed by grief. She wouldn’t want them to dwell on sadness and let it control their lives, because that simply wasn’t her nature.

He shared that he lost his wife to breast cancer eleven years ago, describing it as a devastating and frightening experience, not just for him but for everyone affected.

In a 2010 interview, Stanley shared that he felt ‘mostly sad’ after her death the year before.

‘There’s all the blaming of yourself, which you can’t do, but you kind of do,’ he said at the time.

It’s very sad that Kate couldn’t join us, and I feel bad for my children who didn’t get to spend as much time with her as they deserved. She was a truly remarkable person.
