SpaceX has moved the date for its 13th Starship rocket test flight to Thursday, July 23rd. The previous attempt had to be stopped automatically due to a problem with one of the rocket engines.
A recent issue caused SpaceX stock prices to fall. The company’s rocket will be carrying 20 of its next-generation Starlink satellites for the first time.
SpaceX Delays Starship Flight 13 to Thursday
SpaceX confirmed the new launch window in a post on X on Monday.

SpaceX postponed its launch attempt earlier this week after some of the Raptor 3 engines didn’t start during the countdown. The company hasn’t yet explained what caused the problem. This flight is the second test for the updated Starship V3 design and will take off from Starbase in Texas.
During this flight, Starship will release twenty working version 3 Starlink satellites. SpaceX wants to confirm successful satellite deployment before it begins launching larger payloads for customers.
SPCX Stock Slides Toward Its All-Time Low
SpaceX stock closed at around $124 on Monday, a decrease of over 5% for the day. This brings the stock price close to its lowest point in the last year, $122.12. Currently, the stock is about 23% below its initial public offering price of $135.
This latest issue adds to a difficult period for those who have invested in SpaceX. The company’s share price recently dropped below what it was initially offered at earlier this month. There was also a significant increase in “short interest” – bets that the stock would fall – following a previous dip, reportedly reaching 185 million shares, which represents almost 30% of all shares available for trading.
Because cryptocurrency markets are open 24/7, traders can instantly react to news events. Some platforms, like those using the xStocks framework, offer digital shares of SpaceX – each share is directly backed by one share of SPCX. Other platforms provide leveraged tokens, which can significantly increase potential gains or losses based on price movements.
What’s Next for SpaceX Investors
If SpaceX has a successful launch on Thursday, it could recover some recent financial ground. Despite the stock’s recent decline, Evercore ISI maintains an ‘Outperform’ rating and a $230 price target, believing investors are simply taking profits rather than reacting to any real issues with the company.
Another failed launch would increase the stress on SpaceX as the company prepares for its first major release of shares since going public in early August, coinciding with the release of its second-quarter earnings. Recent market reaction to news – like the dip following the Nasdaq-100 inclusion announcement – demonstrates how easily the stock price can be affected, even when other news is positive.
The upcoming launch on Thursday is particularly important for SpaceX (SPCX) investors. If the flight goes well, it could improve investor confidence before the company releases its financial results. However, if the launch is delayed again, the stock price might fall to a new low.
