After Saturday’s first live semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent, Simon Cowell unwound with a couple of beers as he left the studio with his fiancée, Lauren Silverman.
The 66-year-old music executive was seen carrying a couple of beer bottles as he entered his car. Meanwhile, his wife, Lauren, 48, drove away in a different car.
Lauren seemed cheerful, smiling for the photographers as she hailed another taxi outside the London event space.
This comment followed a joke Lauren made about potentially having a funeral before their wedding, given their current struggles.
They first crossed paths in Barbados back in 2004, but their romantic relationship didn’t begin until about 2012. They had their son, Eric, in 2014, and announced their engagement in 2021.
Four years after he proposed, Lauren jokingly talked about how long they’ve been engaged in a recent interview.
While on ExtraTV, host and Simon Cowell’s former partner, Terri Seymour, playfully asked if he and his current partner are planning to get married anytime soon.
Lauren replied: ‘You mean like for a wedding? Is that what that means?’
The presenter made a joke about something being ‘for a funeral,’ and Lauren responded with a laugh, saying, ‘At this point, who can say what will happen first?’
Music executive Simon and his partner Lauren recently opened up about their lives in a new Netflix docuseries, ‘The Next Act.’ The show documents Simon’s search across the country for up-and-coming musical talent.
Before the show came out, she hinted that it was going to be intense, saying, ‘Simon is already difficult, but adding Eric as his helper makes things even worse!’
Simon announced that a wedding is likely coming soon, now that his fiancée, Lauren, has officially changed her last name.
The show features glimpses into Simon Cowell’s personal life, including moments with his partner Lauren and their 11-year-old son, Eric. One episode specifically shows Lauren legally changing her last name to Cowell.
Simon, who had often said he wasn’t eager to get married, recently proposed to Lauren on Christmas Eve 2021 and now confirms they are planning to tie the knot.
He said he avoided confirming anything whenever asked. He explained that when they decided to make things official, they’d keep it private at first, then share the news. However, he noted that her recent talk about changing her name strongly suggested where things were headed.
‘We have a very, very close bond. I adore her. We are a very happy family, genuinely,’ he gushed.
Simon shared that even though he had to convince Lauren to be in his new show, the process actually made him love her even more.
At first, she was hesitant about being filmed, but she quickly became comfortable, he shared with Us Weekly. He also noted that what viewers see on screen is exactly how she is as a person.
‘When I was watching the show back, I was absolutely cracking up at some of the scenes.
During a scene about changing her name, Lauren explained she wants to drop her former married name. She was previously married to businessman Andrew Silverman and they share a 20-year-old son named Adam.
She introduced herself as Mrs. Cowell, explaining that she and Simon have built a life together, including a child and a strong relationship.
She explained the name change was about feeling connected to Simon and Eric. It was a way to show their family unity and shared identity. Simon had casually expressed his desire for her to change her name, saying it reflected who they all were as a family – it wasn’t a big ask, just a simple statement of their connection.
Even though he used to say he wasn’t interested in getting married, the man changed his mind after he met Lauren and fell in love. She was completely surprised when he proposed.
Simon met Lauren when she was still married to millionaire property developer Andrew.
In late July 2013, news of Lauren’s pregnancy surfaced, revealing their affair and dramatically altering Simon’s life.
In 2015, Simon admitted to Mail on Sunday Event magazine that he was ashamed of the situation, saying he felt unable to face it with pride.
He confessed the pregnancy wasn’t intentional, but he fondly remembered attending the first ultrasound scan with Lauren.
I nicknamed him Tad because he reminded me of a tadpole. Then, suddenly, a strong feeling came over me – I felt incredibly protective of both him and his brother. I realized I really wanted him, something I hadn’t understood before that moment.
Simon had often said he wasn’t interested in getting married, and he was concerned about how it might affect his money if he ever did.
Simon Cowell, the creator of The X Factor and worth around $600 million, stated in 2008 that he doesn’t believe in marriage, especially not for people in the entertainment industry.
Honestly, a lot of people find that after getting married, their partner quickly takes advantage of them financially, and the relationship doesn’t last. It rarely works out as hoped.
He’s dated several well-known women in the past, including Sinitta, Jackie St. Clair, and Terri Seymour.
There were rumors that he was secretly engaged to model Louise Payne after her separation from her husband, Right Said Fred singer Fred Fairbrass, but he never publicly confirmed them.
