Emma Mackey, known for her role in Sex Education, will star in an upcoming romantic comedy directed by Nancy Meyers, set to be released during the Christmas season. The film will also feature Penélope Cruz, Jude Law, Kieran Culkin, and Owen Wilson.
The new comedy is directed and written by Meyers, known for films like Something’s Gotta Give and The Holiday. It will be released on December 25, 2027.
The movie, which was first developed at Netflix in 2023, will now be released by Warner Bros Pictures after two years of discussions, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The streaming service canceled the project due to a disagreement over money. Sources say the creator requested a $150 million budget, but the studio was only willing to spend up to $130 million.
When the project was initially announced, Penélope Cruz and Luke Wilson were set to star, and Michael Fassbender and Scarlett Johansson were also being considered for parts.

The project was temporarily known as Paris Paramount, but it’s uncertain if this was just a placeholder name or the film’s actual title.
I heard this movie was going to be about a young filmmaker who falls for a producer. They start making awesome movies together, but then their relationship—both as a couple and as creative partners—falls apart. It sounds really interesting and potentially heartbreaking!
This story, inspired by the author’s own life, follows a couple who must collaborate on a new project, where they face challenges working with some difficult and famous actors.

We knew the project had a preliminary budget and a rough story outline, but it’s unknown if the script has been updated since the studio switched to Warner Bros. Pictures. Details about the current budget and the story’s main idea are being kept secret.
Nancy Meyers’ most recent film, The Intern, featuring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, came out in 2015.
Mackey recently appeared in the political comedy Ella McCay, directed by James L. Brooks. Initial reactions to the film were positive, calling it “refreshingly hopeful.” However, later reviews were much more critical, with some describing it as “dreadful” and “a sorry mess.”
The untitled Nancy Myers movie will be released on 25 December, 2027.
