A prominent critic of cryptocurrencies is demanding greater openness regarding any financial gains made by the White House through these digital assets, especially as legislators consider new regulations for the crypto market.
Following reports that President Trump made approximately $1.4 billion from cryptocurrencies in 2025, Senator Elizabeth Warren has asked for more information.
That’s more than double the prior year and now accounts for the vast majority of his income.
The report reveals substantial family involvement, with Trump family members owning 30% of DT Marks Defi LLC. This company earned over $590 million in 2025 and has a significant stake in World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency business founded by Trump and his sons.
Senator Warren has requested that companies voluntarily submit updated disclosures by the end of July. This information will help inform the Senate’s discussions about the Clarity Act, a proposed law aiming to create clear rules for the digital asset market by defining the responsibilities of the SEC and CFTC.
Says Warren,
Your financial disclosures bring up important concerns about whether it’s right for the President, Vice President, top government officials, and their families to benefit financially from the cryptocurrency industry. This is especially concerning while the Senate considers new laws that could increase the value of your crypto investments. Also, the information you’ve provided doesn’t seem current – it doesn’t include any financial changes from the past few months.
Congress needs reliable information when discussing this law and establishing rules to ensure federal officials don’t personally benefit from the industries they oversee.
I respectfully request you provide a current and complete financial report covering everything up to July 15, 2026. Because I’m asking for this now, could you please share the updated report by July 23, 2026?
