While recent episodes of Saturday Night Live have been inconsistent in terms of sketch quality, the musical performances have consistently been excellent. This holds true for both the American and British versions of the show, as both are nearing the end of their current seasons and finalizing their lineups of musical guests.
The US version of the show has only four dates remaining, with a pause after April 11th. This Saturday’s episode, hosted by the fantastic Colman Domingo, will feature a performance by Anitta.
If you’re unfamiliar with this artist, get ready to be impressed. She’s a Brazilian musician who blends pop, reggaeton, funk, and electronic music into a sound that’s both incredibly original and captivating. She’s sure to be a fantastic addition to the show with Domingo, and could even become the season’s best musical guest, rivaling Jack White.
Saturday Night Live announces next musical guests
Saturday Night Live returns on May 2nd with a special episode featuring Olivia Rodrigo. She’ll be hosting and performing as the musical guest – it will be her third time as the musical guest and her first time hosting. Rodrigo also has a new album, titled ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,’ coming out on June 12th.
Matt Damon will host Saturday Night Live on May 9th, with a musical performance by Noah Kahan. This will be Kahan’s second time on the show, following his first appearance in 2023. He’s known for prioritizing quality songwriting over chasing massive sales, and consistently delivers excellent music.
The season finale on May 16th is shaping up to be a great night! Will Ferrell, known from his time on Saturday Night Live and with a new Netflix series, The Hawk, coming this July, will host. But the real highlight is musical guest Sir Paul McCartney – you definitely won’t want to miss seeing a legend like him perform.
The UK version of Saturday Night Live will have a brief season, concluding in May. Viewership has dropped significantly over the three episodes aired so far, so it might not last long. The next show, featuring host Jack Whitehall and musical guest Jorja Smith, is scheduled for April 11th.
This singer-songwriter is very talented. One thing the UK version of Saturday Night Live has done exceptionally well is book great musical guests, including Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, and Kasabian.
