Downey has been sharing posts hinting at his upcoming role as Doctor Doom. These included a Super Bowl picture of him and his wife, Susan Downey, wearing green jerseys related to the character, and a Christmas-themed artwork featuring both Doom and Iron Man masks. He playfully combined the film’s release date with the name of the movie, calling it “Dunesday” alongside news about Dune: Part Three. People have noticed he’s been frequently posting images related to Iron Man, suggesting a connection to his preparation for the role of Victor von Doom.

Although Marvel hasn’t officially revealed a promotional image of Doctor Doom from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, a picture of the character’s masked face has appeared online through merchandise like a keychain. The film brings back Downey as a key villain in the ongoing Multiverse Saga and is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Letitia Wright, and Simu Liu. Vanessa Kirby joins them as Sue Storm, completing the Fantastic Four cast. Marvel Studios plans to release the film on December 18, 2026, as the beginning of Phase Six, which will eventually lead into ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
