- Mega Mewtwo X and Y debut in Pokémon GO Fest 2026 raids.
- Zeraora introduced via Special Research during global event weekend.
Pokémon GO Fest 2026 is going to be a major event, particularly for fans waiting to battle Mega Mewtwo! Niantic has announced that Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will make their official debut during the global event on July 11th and 12th, 2026. Excitingly, this year’s event will be free to attend.
You can obtain Mega Energy X and Y by participating in Super Mega Raid Battles happening this weekend. These raids feature both forms of Mewtwo. Use the Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your own Mewtwo! Plus, any Mewtwo you catch in these raids will already be partially Mega Evolved, and you might even get one that’s even further along.
Pokémon GO Fest 2026 event features all 18 Pokémon types across rotating habitats
Plus, a powerful Mythical Pokémon called Zeraora is coming to Pokémon GO! Players can encounter Zeraora by completing Special Research—and it’s a special opportunity, as this is the first time Zeraora will be available in the game this way. Simply log in during the event weekend to start the research, and you can work on completing it at your own pace, since it won’t disappear!
Trainers, get ready! Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global will take place on July 11–12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. It’s free for all players who log in during the event! Look forward to Special Research, in-game bonuses, and increased chances of finding Shiny Pokémon throughout the weekend.

GO Fest will follow the familiar format of past events, but with even more to do. Each hour will focus on different types of Pokémon – like Fire, Electric, and Dragon – rotating through all 18 types over the course of the weekend.
As we previously mentioned, Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Global is free for everyone. Simply logging in during the event weekend will give you access to exclusive Special Research (including a chance to encounter Zeraora), event perks, and better odds of finding Shiny Pokémon – all without spending a dime.
The update also includes some fun visual changes! You might see Pikachu wearing hats representing the three teams – Instinct, Mystic, and Valor. Plus, the original starter Pokémon – Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle – are sporting Pikachu visors. Keep an eye out, as these Pokémon can also appear in their rare, Shiny forms!
When you use Incense, you’ll likely find Pokémon such as Unown, Tropius, and Bouffalant. The Pokémon available through Field Research and Timed Research will change depending on the current habitat. Plus, you’ll be able to choose which Mega Mewtwo form—X or Y—to focus your research on.
Players can look forward to several bonuses, including a higher chance of finding Shiny Pokémon, Lure Modules that last longer, more Raid Passes, increased opportunities for Special Trades, and lower Stardust costs. We’ll also have worldwide challenges with extra prizes up for grabs.
