You can now stream all six episodes of Falling, a new drama featuring Keeley Hawes (from Bodyguard) and Paapa Essiedu (The Capture), on Channel 4. It’s a quick and easy show to watch over the weekend.
Okay, so the show is basically a romance. You really start to see Anna and David connect, and it’s clear they’re developing some serious feelings for each other. It’s a good slow burn, honestly.
The situation is made more difficult by Anna and David’s religious lives – Anna is a nun and David a priest – and their struggle to balance their feelings with their commitment to their faith and duties.

The show also stars Adrian Scarborough, known from Gavin & Stacey, David Dawson from This Town, Jason Watkins of W1A, and Niamh Cusack, who appeared in Big Mood.
Jack Thorne, known for writing shows like Adolescence, Toxic Town, the This Is England series, and His Dark Materials, is also the creator and writer of Falling.
What to Read Next
Compared to those shows, this one has a bit more of a mixed reception.
In a rave review, The Times praised Falling for beautifully portraying the intoxicating feeling of falling in love. The review called the book “spellbinding” and noted that the author, Thorne, has once again delivered an exceptional work.
Both Herald Scotland and Radio Times praised the show. Herald Scotland described it as “beautifully restrained,” and Radio Times highlighted the strong performances from the lead actors, noting that the show is thoughtful, warm, funny, and full of the close, personal conversations that the creator is known for.

I was really disappointed after reading the reviews. The Star seemed to agree it had potential, saying you just expect more from something with that background. But The Guardian was brutal – they called it a complete disaster! They especially didn’t buy the conversations between the characters, saying nothing felt genuine or real. It’s a shame, because I was hoping for something better.
Both The Mail and The Times knocked the show for not being as raunchy as they expected.
Falling is available to stream in full on Channel 4 now, while episode 3 airs at 9pm on Tuesday.
