I’m so sad for her, but I totally get it. It must be awful dealing with everything online. The 38-year-old Irish actress said she removes social media apps from her phone because they affect her mental health negatively.

Nicola, famous for her roles in shows like Bridgerton and Derry Girls, shared that she only uses Instagram for professional purposes – to promote her work.

She told the BBC that she often posts to social media and then immediately deletes her posts, because she worries about the negative effects they could have.

When asked about potentially banning social media for those under 16, she acknowledged it’s a complex issue, but stated she generally favors taking some kind of action.

This follows Nicola’s response to claims about her body size, where she clarified she was a size 8-10 during the nude scenes in Bridgerton.

I was really surprised to hear the actress say she doesn’t care about promoting body positivity, even with the kinds of scenes she’s been in. Honestly, she seems completely unfazed by any talk or criticism about her body, and she actually finds it all pretty tedious – which is a bit shocking, but that’s her take.

Nicola Coughlan revealed she lost weight before filming the nude scene that became popular in the third season of Bridgerton, sharing this information on the cover of ELLE UK’s April issue.

She explained that she used to dislike receiving compliments about her appearance from fans, because she believes it takes away from the recognition of her acting skills and effort.

Nicola explained that something she often says which upsets people is her lack of interest in the body positivity movement.

As a child, I never considered actors’ physiques. It simply didn’t cross my mind, and honestly, I still don’t pay attention to it.

I have many interests, but this isn’t one of them. It’s something other people enjoy, not me.

She recalled some comments about her appearance on the show, explaining that she was actually very fit at the time. She’d been working out a lot and had lost weight – she thinks she was around a size 10, but one of the costumes she wore, a corset, was a size 8.

People started commenting on my size, and it made me realize how messed up things are if I’m considered the largest woman anyone wants to see represented in movies or on TV.

I once had a really intoxicated woman corner me in a bathroom and tell me she loved the show Bridgerton because of my physique. She started commenting on my body, and I honestly just wanted to disappear – it was incredibly upsetting.

It’s incredibly frustrating to pour months of effort and personal sacrifice into a project, only for it to be judged on superficial things. It feels really disheartening when all that dedication boils down to just appearances.

Nicola revealed a bit about her relationship with actor Jake Dunn, explaining that they make an effort to stay connected despite busy schedules. She jokingly said she often sends him silly videos, and they rely on video calls to keep in touch.

I used to just admire him as an actor, but what I really love is that he has his own passions and interests outside of work.
