The upcoming urban fantasy RPG, Neverness to Everness (NTE), is generating a lot of excitement before its release. However, a recent discussion about how players interact with each other – specifically a system some are calling the game’s ‘dating’ system – has caused some controversy among fans.
How the Neverness to Everness Interaction feature controversy started
The issue started when a video of the game began spreading online. The video showed a player choosing the “hug” option with the game’s female character. When activated, a nearby female character hugged the player’s character and then dramatically lifted her chin.

The event quickly went viral on social media, and players immediately began discussing its potential impact on how the game allows interaction between users.
Players recently found out that the game lets you invite up to five female characters to your owned properties. You can interact with these characters on your property, but male characters can’t be invited, even if you’re playing as a female character yourself.

Why Neverness to Everness interaction (dating) feature facing backlashes
This feature is facing these backlashes for the reasons mentioned below.
- Interactions between two female characters create a bizarre scene, and many players don’t like it.
- Multiple players don’t like the five female character invitation in your property feature.
- Male characters are not currently available for the same feature, even when players choose a female protagonist, which is another reason.
So, a bunch of stuff started a big debate in the game, and honestly, it’s hilarious because everyone’s jokingly calling it ‘dating’ within the game, NTE. It’s just become this running joke!
Final Thoughts
The developers haven’t yet addressed the recent controversy. However, if the reports are true, they might feel more pressure to explain if the feature is meant to be this way, if it’s a temporary issue, or if they plan to change it before the game officially releases. Some players believe this is a deliberate strategy to gain attention from other gaming communities.
Hopefully, they’ll improve this feature soon, because if they don’t, it could damage the game’s reputation before it even comes out.
