Neural Simulation Spotlight: Morpheus – Vainbloom
In Zone 16, there’s a being known as Morpheus who resembles a Demiurge. She can assimilate Titagen for her personal use. During battles, she moves with wings reminiscent of cicadas and employs attacks fueled by Titagen. Despite being in combat, she appears disinterested in fighting and maintains a passive demeanor, both verbally and physically.

Behaviour and Attacks
Morpheus has two phases, with minimal differences between the two.
Clones
In this scenario, Morpheus calls forth two adversaries, but instead of standing openly among them, he conceals himself within one of the opponents. To inflict harm on Morpheus, you must target the genuine foe. In actual play, this usually turns out to be quite straightforward since it’s clearly distinguished.
It’s also always the one on the left.
Morpheus consistently launches an attack eight seconds into the battle, seamlessly blending with the summoned foe by the tenth second.
If you kill the enemy before Morpheus exits on her own, it will force Morpheus back out.
During stage two, four adversaries appear instead, with Morpheus consistently concealed within the second one from the left side.
Spear Strike
Morpheus throws a set of two spears towards you, causing harm if they strike. It’s effortless to dodge them by stepping aside.
Deluge of Tears
Morpheus launches a series of projectiles in your direction that inflict harm upon impact. Upon release, the primary attack doesn’t seem to follow your movements, and the additional side barrages do not seem to aim for you either, making it quite simple to dodge by moving aside.
Dreamlight Beam
Morpheus emits a ray that hits you, causing harm and making you stumble later on. This ray doesn’t track your movements, allowing you to evade by moving aside and then avoid any further impact afterwards.
Mines
Morpheus sets up a crisscross pattern of traps on the map, resembling an ‘X’. These traps explode if you step onto them, but they don’t cause any issues otherwise. However, this tactic is employed exclusively during phase 2.
Dreamseer Web
Morpheus calls forth a trio of intertwining laser streams, dancing gracefully through the air and heading straight for you. Evading this formidable assault is no simple task, but if you swiftly step aside just in time, you’ll manage to slip past it unscathed.
The Wall
When Morpheus has lost two-thirds of its health, it will transport both you and itself to a fresh location. In this new area, Morpheus will create two moving walls, each with sections that can be destroyed to eliminate the entire wall. After you destroy both walls in this way, Morpheus is defeated, and you’ll be sent back to the starting point. During these transition phases, you can still move around and attack Morpheus, even as it becomes invincible, including during the screen fade-outs – so make sure to take advantage of those extra moments!
It’s important to point out that while Morpheus isn’t completely invincible in certain parts of his body, he possesses an extraordinarily high capacity to withstand damage. This feature may enable Enya – Tempest to accumulate Wind Power and U-Energy by deploying her primary skill against Morpheus, which she can then utilize for her subsequent abilities.
Strategy
After examining multiple video clips of Morpheus’ fighting style, you may have observed that he doesn’t launch attacks very frequently. In certain moves, such as the mines, Morpheus simply hovers harmlessly without causing any damage. This leads to the best approach being a full-on offense strategy and disregarding any attacks he attempts to execute.
Team Building
In the battle between Enya and Morpheus, it’s worth noting that Enya has several advantages due to being specifically designed to excel against him. During the wall phase of their encounter, Enya benefits from a damage reduction period which allows her to build up her abilities more effectively. Additionally, Morpheus’ ability to reduce critical hit damage doesn’t significantly impact Enya.
Nevertheless, other DPS agents can achieve victories in this location, since Morpheus’ non-aggressive persona doesn’t place many significant limitations. Just keep in mind to bring an operative who is proficient at dismantling components, as this will facilitate a swift advance during the wall phase of the battle.
