The Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy (MSTR) has extended its pause on BTC purchases to five weeks.

I saw the news today that the company added $525 million to their USD holdings last week. Interestingly, they didn’t purchase any more Bitcoin with those funds – they just built up their cash reserves instead.

Strategy hasn’t made any Bitcoin purchases or sales for the past three weeks. Before that, they sold off 3,588 BTC, bringing in $216 million, over a two-week period.

As a researcher following this company, I’ve been tracking their recent sales which generated significant buzz in the crypto world. These sales were a direct result of their new program to convert Bitcoin into cash – a move they implemented to strengthen their finances and ensure consistent dividend payouts.

As of today, the company possesses approximately $54.75 billion in Bitcoin – a total of 843,775 coins – and also has $3.75 billion in cash on hand.

Michael Saylor, chairman of Strategy, announced the company bought back 288,930 shares of its preferred stock (STRC) for $25 million. The average price paid per share was $86.52. STRC is a type of stock that pays an annual dividend of 12% and is typically valued around $100 per share.

STRC is trading at $88.32 at time of writing and is up 1.65% on Monday.

Strategy was the first publicly traded company to put all of its cash reserves into Bitcoin and continues to hold the most Bitcoin of any company by a significant amount.

Despite falling over 35% this year, MicroStrategy’s (MSTR) stock rose more than 7.6% today.
