As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that the announcement of Metal Slug Tactics has sent a wave of excitement through the retro gaming community. Having grown up playing the classic run-n-gun arcade shooter series on various platforms, the prospect of delving back into the world of Pogo, Fio, and company in a tactical grid-based game is truly tantalizing.
Dotemu and developer Leikir Studio have revealed that the strategic, grid-based version of the popular run-n-gun arcade shooter series by SNK, named Metal Slug Tactics, will be releasing in November.
In addition to announcing the game’s launch date and a preview video, developer Leikir has also revealed three new playable characters for Ikari Warriors. Each character possesses unique skills: Clark Still, known from Metal Slug 6, showcases his power and wrestling techniques; Ralf Jones specializes in close-quarter combat; and the esteemed Leona Heidern can substitute fallen enemies with decoys.
The upcoming game, Metal Slug Tactics, maintains the iconic look of the Metal Slug series and offers fast-paced battles. Positioned as a “tribute to an enduring classic”, this title is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on November 5th. A physical release will follow at a later time.
