LoL Swiftplay to get more regions: “We’re currently figuring out how and when to bring it to regions that don’t quite have it yet.”
Riot Games has revealed information about Swiftplay in League of Legends, which includes expanding to additional regions and addressing speed concerns. Here’s what you need to know.
Matt “Riot Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison and Eduardo “Riot Cadmus” Cortejoso shared news with League of Legends players regarding the Swiftplay game mode. The developers behind League of Legends announced their intentions to expand Swiftplay to additional regions, and they also addressed concerns about its speed and flow.

Is it likely that additional areas will be able to access Swiftplay? Riot Cadmus indicated in a recent video that this is indeed a possibility. The development team is actively working on expanding Swiftplay to cover more regions, but they are still in the process of determining the best approach and timeline for the expansion.

As of Feb. 7, the current Swiftplay regions include the following:
- North America
- Latin America North
- Latin America South
- EU West
- EU Nordic & East
- Russia
- Brazil
- Turkey
- Taiwan
- Vietnam
As a dedicated gamer, I can tell you that I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Swiftplay – it’s surpassed even my own high expectations! It’s proving to be as popular as Quickplay, if not more so, and Riot Games must be pretty impressed too. One thing I love about Swiftplay is how it’s streamlining matches, making them an average of 4 to 5 minutes faster than those on Summoner’s Rift. That means less waiting and more action for me!
He also aimed at minimizing the snowball effect, or the “rubber-banding” mechanics, which would enable players to reach their maximum build potential more frequently, and thus let them play League of Legends with friends who have varying skill levels, enjoying the game together.
League of Legends Swiftplay patch notes
Speaking about the rhythm of games in Swiftplay, Riot Phroxzon mentioned that the League of Legends team feels content with how their early and mid-games are balanced. Yet, there’s a desire to enhance the late-game flow and shorten the length of extended matches.
Riot Phroxzon explained that Swiftplay doesn’t reach its intended objectives when games are slow and players are stuck at level 18 for extended periods. To address this issue, we’ve made some adjustments like making minions stronger faster, towers becoming weaker sooner, and structures gradually burning towards the Nexus, effectively shortening the game duration.
