Liam Gallagher says his mum told him to ‘behave and stop being a d**k’ after he ridiculed the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as Oasis is set to reunite for ceremony

Liam Gallagher shared that his mother told him to mind his manners after he publicly criticized the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Oasis is one of the British acts being honored at this year’s ceremony, even though Liam Gallagher has made fun of the award in the past.

Someone asked him why his view had shifted, and he explained on X that he’d been talking to his mother when the news came out, and she suggested he might have reacted too quickly.

She told me to stop acting like an idiot, go to the awards show, and try to behave, suggesting I might actually have a good time.

When asked if his brother Noel would be attending, Liam responded that they both would be. He added that they were both incredibly proud and humbled.

Liam described himself as both ‘humble and proud’ and announced he would be apologizing to the event organizers for previously making fun of them.

He wrote that he would definitely bring chocolates and flowers, and apologize to the organizers for not knowing something.

As a lifestyle observer, I remember when singer-songwriter Liam, who’s 51, publicly dismissed the award nomination back in 2024, finding it a bit laughable at the time. It was definitely a surprising reaction!

He expressed strong disapproval of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on X, calling it filled with ‘incompetent people’ and stating he doesn’t need an award from an elderly person wearing a cowboy hat.

However, it seems he’s had a change of heart since learning about Oasis being inducted, especially since his brother Noel, 58, recently received the Songwriter of the Year award at the Brit Awards.

Liam, known for being outspoken, shared a post on X this morning that seemed to playfully acknowledge his previous complaints. He wrote, ‘It feels like I’m using reverse psychology on the Oasis reunion—thinking of the people involved as farmers instead of fans!’

The popular Britpop band, who successfully toured together again last year, will receive an award this year. They’re one of six British artists being honored, alongside Sade, Billy Idol, and Joy Division and New Order, who are nominated as a group.

Ryan Seacrest revealed the 2026 inductees on Tuesday’s episode of American Idol. Over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry experts voted to select this year’s honorees.

This will be Phil Collins’ second time being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was first honored in 2010 as a member of the band Genesis.

Joy Division and New Order are closely linked because New Order was created by the surviving members of Joy Division after the tragic death of their singer, Ian Curtis, in 1980.

According to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame chairman John Sykes, being inducted into the Hall of Fame is the greatest achievement a musician can attain.

We’re excited to honor these incredible artists at the ceremony – it promises to be a night to remember.

This year’s honorees include the iconic Wu-Tang Clan, Queen Latifah, the late Luther Vandross, and Latin music legend Celia Cruz.

As a huge fan of British music, I was a little disappointed to see how few UK artists were recognized in 2025. It was great to see Bad Company and Joe Cocker get some love, but I really wished there’d been more British representation overall.

Musicians can be considered for induction into the hall of fame 25 years after releasing their first commercially available recording.

Joy Division, Oasis and Billy Idol were among last year’s nominees who failed to make the cut.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will hold its 2026 induction ceremony in Los Angeles this November, and it will be available to stream on Disney+ the following December.
