John Wick 5 finally gets a positive update after being confirmed over a year ago

As a huge fan, I was so excited to hear some real news about John Wick: Chapter 5! We’ve all been waiting forever, and while we knew Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski were coming back last year, things have been pretty quiet until now. It’s great to finally get an update!

Adam Fogelson, chairman of Lionsgate, recently told Business Insider that Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski have come up with a central concept for the next movie.

Fogelson mentioned that Chapter 5 will be released after both the upcoming spin-off focusing on Caine and the animated prequel.

“Chad and Keanu have an idea that they think can be really exciting,” Fogelson said.

It’s hard to say exactly when things will be finished because there’s still a lot to do. However, they’ve come up with a central concept they’re happy with, and now we’ll have to wait and see how it develops.

What to Read Next

A spin-off series focusing on the character Caine was revealed in 2024. Donnie Yen will reprise his role as the blind assassin he played in John Wick: Chapter 4.

Yen is directing the movie, which originated from an idea he and Stahelski developed together. Robert Askins and Mattson Tomlin wrote the screenplay, and Lionsgate has announced that filming is now underway.

Last year, it was revealed that Keanu Reeves will voice John Wick in an animated prequel movie centered around his early days and a difficult mission.

It will be directed by Shannon Tindle, written by Vanessa Taylor and co-produced by Stahelski.

I’ve always known Chad Stahelski was a huge anime fan, and he’s actually said it himself! He’s mentioned how much it’s influenced his work, especially the John Wick movies. It’s awesome to hear that something he loves has played such a big part in creating a franchise I enjoy so much.

Creating a John Wick anime feels like a natural next step for the franchise. I think John Wick is ideally suited for anime, as the medium offers incredible potential to build on the world, characters, and action we’ve already established.

The John Wick movies are available to buy or rent on Prime Video, plus DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD.
