The trailer for Netflix’s Office Romance shows things getting playfully suggestive between Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein.
Netflix won a competitive bid to star Jennifer Lopez and Seth Goldstein in a new romantic comedy released in 2024. Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, a successful CEO, and Goldstein plays Daniel Blanchflower, a new lawyer at her airline. As they begin a secret romance at work, they find themselves shifting their focus from their careers to each other.
Netflix just dropped the first trailer for its new romantic comedy, Office Romance. The trailer gives a great preview of the connection between the main characters, Jackie and Daniel. You can stream the movie starting June 5th. Watch the trailer below!
To promote her new movie, Jennifer Lopez playfully updated her LinkedIn profile to reflect her character’s job. She changed her background photo to show a plane with the airline’s logo, “Air Cruz,” and listed her title as “CEO & Pilot, Air Cruz.” In the job history section, she jokingly included references to her previous romantic comedy films like The Wedding Planner, Maid in Manhattan, Monster-in-Law, The Back-up Plan, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Second Act, Marry Me, and Shotgun Wedding.
Ol Parker, known for directing films like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Ticket to Paradise, directs Office Romance. The screenplay is co-written by Daniel Goldstein and Joe Kelly, who also collaborated on an episode of Ted Lasso called “Beard After Hours.” Lopez, Goldstein, and Kelly all served as producers on the film.
Joining Jennifer Lopez and Adam Goldstein in the new film Office Romance are Betty Gilpin (known for Death by Lightning), Amy Sedaris (The Mandalorian), Tony Hale (Toy Story 4), Bradley Whitford (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner). Olmos will play the father of Lopez’s character, marking a reunion for the two actors who previously played father and daughter in the 1997 film Selena.
Jennifer Lopez is well-known for romantic comedies, but she’s taken on more diverse roles lately. For Netflix, she’s appeared in the sci-fi film Atlas and the action thriller Mother, which became one of the platform’s top 10 most popular original movies in 2023. More recently, she starred in new versions of the musical drama Kiss of the Spider Woman and the sports drama Unstoppable.
Brett Goldstein is famous for playing Roy Kent, and he’s returning to that role in the fourth season of Ted Lasso. Like with Office Romance, he not only acts in the sports comedy series but also writes and produces it. He’s taken on all three of those roles for Apple TV’s Shrinking as well, which he co-created with Bill Lawrence and Jason Segel.
Goldstein previously shared with People that he and Kelly developed the idea for Office Romance while on a train, specifically envisioning Jennifer Lopez in the lead role. That vision has now become a reality, and the film is expected to be a major release for Netflix this summer.
Office Romance releases on Netflix on June 5.
