However, rumors are circulating that Callum Turner has been telling people he’s landed the role, and that Frankenstein and Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi has been in talks with the filmmakers about potentially replacing Daniel Craig as 007.
While Richard Turner and Jacob Elordi are currently leading the pack, actor Henry Ashton is quickly becoming a strong contender to play the next James Bond. He’s now at 8-1 odds for the role in the upcoming Amazon reboot, and it’s easy to understand why. Ashton maintains a lower public profile than Turner, Elordi, and other popular choices like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James. Plus, with his blonde hair and blue eyes, he shares a similar look to Daniel Craig, potentially making for a smooth transition into the iconic role.
Ashton is an English actor currently starring as Daeron Targaryen in the Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He’s also appeared in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, My Lady Jane, and Outlander. Standing at 6’2”, he attended a prestigious private school – a background similar to James Bond. At 35 years old, he’s a bit younger than Daniel Craig was when he first played Bond in Casino Royale (2006), but potentially a little older than some recent reports suggest the studio is seeking. However, he definitely possesses the youthful look needed to lead the franchise forward.
The upcoming James Bond reboot from Amazon is off to a surprisingly strong start.
