Shelley Conn, star of ITV’s new drama Adultery, says the show offers a fresh take on the topic of infidelity. The series, which was first revealed last year, stars Dominic Cooper and Romola Garai as two people who feel an instant and powerful attraction to each other.
So, it all started because our kids, Ollie and Jess, started dating. But things got… complicated. Let’s just say Beth and I, Tom, found ourselves feeling something for each other, and it was a real mess. We were both dealing with a lot of guilt, and honestly, we were terrified of what could happen to our families if anyone found out.
Actress Conn, who plays Hannah – Tom’s wife in the show – recently spoke with Digital Spy and other media outlets about the initial version of the series.

She explained that the story feels fresh because while infidelity has always been a common theme in stories – going back to the very beginning of marriage – the way this particular story is built is unique.
There’s a couple having an affair, and to make things even more complicated, their teenage children are dating each other. This creates a web of interconnected relationships that adds layers of complexity to the situation.

Besides the main actors I mentioned, I was really excited to see Matthew McNulty from Deadwater Fell playing Neil, Beth’s husband. And there’s Charley Webb, who I recognize from Emmerdale, playing Leah! Andrew Knott from Gavin & Stacey is also in it as Dave, and James Murray, who was great in The Crown, plays Paul. Rounding out the cast are Johnny Sanpher and Leila Khan as the teenage characters Ollie and Jess.
The new series, created by Danny Brocklehurst of Brassic, is a compelling love story that explores themes of social class, dealing with loss, and the impact of social media. It’s a dramatic and emotional ride filled with romance, the challenges of raising a family, and dangerous situations.

The series Adultery feels raw and intensely emotional because it centers on the lives of relatable families facing complicated situations, according to its description.
Brocklehurst shared his excitement about the cast of Adultery, calling it a privilege to work with such talented actors. He explained that the show’s characters are emotionally complex and require a high level of acting skill, and he’s very pleased with the team they’ve assembled.
Adultery will air on ITV.
