Filming for season 18 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has finished, meaning the new season is one step closer to being released.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a hilarious and often shocking comedy series. It centers around a group of friends who own a failing Irish pub in South Philadelphia. They’re all pretty terrible people, and their attempts to improve things always backfire, leading to chaotic and ridiculous situations.
Rob McElhenney, the creator and star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, shared on Instagram that filming for season 18 has finished. He posted a photo of the cast and crew with a message saying how much he loves them and that he’s excited for fans to see the new season.
FXX hasn’t announced when the next season will premiere, but the show has aired new episodes in the summer for the past two years. Because of this, fans are guessing we’ll see Mac, Dennis, Dee, Charlie, and Frank’s antics return around the same time this year.
I’m so excited for season 18 of Always Sunny in Philadelphia! We haven’t heard much about it yet, but I did find out one thing for sure: it’s going to have 10 episodes. They’ve been doing shorter seasons with only eight episodes since 2021, so this is a welcome change! It’s great to hear we’re getting a couple extra episodes this time around.
Details about the upcoming eighteenth season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are still mostly secret, but a few hints have emerged. Rob McElhenney recently shared what he said was a sneak peek at a script, but it turned out to be an April Fool’s Day joke. The script was almost completely blacked out, revealing very little. However, fans were able to spot one detail: the title of the second episode, which is “Dennis and Dee Don’t Get Rich.”
Many beloved characters will be returning for more episodes. That includes the eccentric McPoyle family, famous for their unusual habits and love of milk. Actor Guillermo del Toro, who plays Pappy McPoyle, recently shared photos with Jimmi Simpson and Nate Mooney (Liam and Ryan, respectively) – all three were dressed in Renaissance Faire costumes. Photos also revealed del Toro filming scenes with Danny DeVito.
David Hornsby, a writer and producer for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will return as his character, Rickety Cricket. Cricket was formerly a priest whose unrequited feelings for Dee led to a downward spiral. Throughout the show, he’s faced numerous hardships, including losing his home, getting injured, struggling with addiction, and losing sight in one eye.
As of today, they haven’t announced when Season 18 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will be out. I’m eagerly waiting for news, but there’s no official date yet!
