Adam Thomas, known for appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, has admitted he wishes he’d handled things differently when Jimmy Bullard put his spot on the show at risk.
On this week’s episode of the show, Adam, 37, and Jimmy, 47, had a disagreement during a challenge. The pair who performed the worst would be eliminated.
Right after the trial started, and while the former Waterloo Road actor was clearly trying his best, the former footballer told hosts Ant and Dec that he couldn’t continue.
Oh my gosh, it was EVERYTHING! He just had to say it, you guys! After refusing to do the challenge, he dropped the most iconic line ever – ‘I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!’ Seriously, I nearly lost it. It was perfection!
Thinking Jimmy had just arranged to leave the show, Adam angrily confronted him, yelling, “Are you kidding me? Are you serious?”
The situation quickly worsened when Adam confronted Jimmy, yelling, ‘I’m covered in ants!’ and angrily calling him a name.
Jimmy interrupted with a dismissive, “Whoa, hold on, that’s just sad,” but Adam, clearly furious off-camera, shouted, “I did everything… and he thinks I’m just doing this for fame?”
Adam kept yelling, with much of his language censored, before turning back to Jimmy and saying, “If you wanted to leave, just go – don’t drag me into it. What’s your problem?”
I can’t believe you quit! All you had to do was push through a little discomfort, and you immediately said you wanted to leave. If you’re going to give up that easily, just go home – don’t waste my time with this.
He insisted he never quits, repeating, ‘I don’t quit.’ He then added, with strong language, ‘I absolutely do not quit, and you know it.’ He finished by saying that if the other person didn’t want to participate, that was their choice, as they had willingly agreed to be on the show in the first place.
Adam has said he regrets his behavior during the challenge, explaining that Jimmy’s unexpected departure from the show caught him off guard and influenced how he reacted.
Speaking before the final episode of the ITV show, which will air tomorrow (Friday, April 24th), he admitted the situation was completely out of the blue. He said he hadn’t anticipated it at all.
Honestly, I was really upset about the situation. It hurt deeply to feel like I was leaving due to someone else’s actions, especially because my biggest wish was to make my children proud.
It’s easy to let your feelings control you in the heat of the moment, and looking back, I definitely regret how I reacted. I was just very upset at the time.
Adam was ultimately saved from elimination following Jimmy quitting the series.
After reaching the final round, Adam shared that making it to the final for the second year in a row was incredibly meaningful to him, and he knew his family would be very proud.
After a series filled with unexpected events, Ant and Dec have announced that all the contestants from I’m A Celebrity will be present for the live final on Friday night.
The show was filmed in South Africa last September, and it’s been on ITV for the last few weeks. The winner will be announced this Friday from a studio in London.
Ant and Dec provided an update on the final during an appearance at the ITV Showcase event in London on Thursday evening.
Dec announced during a question-and-answer session that the live final is tomorrow night and promises to be exciting. He mentioned they’re bringing all the contestants back together.
‘They are all coming, we are not in the Whatsapp group, but we will see how it goes…’.
News broke on Tuesday that the show’s finale was disrupted because Jimmy risked losing a fifth of his payment if he didn’t participate, after a difficult exit from the program.
Honestly, everyone was wondering if he’d actually appear after that huge blow-up with Adam. At 47, he’s earned the right to do what he wants, but that fight left a lot of people thinking he might skip the event. It was a real question mark until he walked through the door!
On Thursday’s show, Adam became emotional and cried after receiving a message from his family. This happened shortly after his public disagreement with boxer David Haye.
Adam got tearful when the campmates received surprise voice messages from their loved ones back home.
Adam’s voice wavered with emotion as he listened to his family on the phone. “It’s just… magical,” he managed to say.
Scarlett Moffatt, recently voted off the show, was quick to answer the camp phone when it rang. An automated message told her the remaining contestants had voicemails.
Craig Charles received voice messages from his wife and kids during the first call, and Mo Farah also heard from his family.
Harry Redknapp was deeply touched by a voice message from his wife, Sandra, who expressed her love and encouraged him to continue making their family proud. His sons also sent messages of support.
Scarlett, age 35, received a touching message from her fiancé and her son, Jude. In a heartfelt moment, Jude told her he loved her for the very first time, which overwhelmed Scarlett with emotion.
This follows the continuing dispute between Adam and David Haye, where the TV personality shared he was receiving therapy due to a conflict with the athlete during filming.
Adam and boxer David, 45, often argued while filming in the South African jungle last September.
David is now facing accusations of bullying following the broadcast of several critical remarks he made about Adam. In one instance, he publicly called Adam ‘useless’ for withdrawing from a trial because of health concerns.
He attacked Adam again online Tuesday night, and Adam has since shared that he’s now in therapy as a result of their conflict on the show.
Adam shared on his podcast, ‘At Home With The Thomas Bros,’ that a disagreement with his brothers, Scott and Ryan, deeply upset him.
Adam became emotional and explained that the experience felt like being back in school, facing a different kind of harassment. He clarified it wasn’t physical bullying, but rather a manipulative and psychologically distressing situation.
I regret not speaking up for myself while I was there. Thinking about it now, that regret bothered me more than anything else that happened.
Adam described how he repeatedly endured David’s harsh words and actions, eventually reaching his limit. He felt completely overwhelmed and on the verge of collapse.
He mentioned that David had apologized, describing him as a kind-hearted person to his brothers. However, David later criticized Adam, even after offering the apology.
In a recent interview, the boxer intensified a previous dispute by calling his co-star ‘weak’ and comparing him to a ‘Chihuahua,’ continuing a pattern of what many consider bullying behavior.
He described Adam as small and fragile, comparing him to a chihuahua, while positioning himself as much stronger – like a doberman or pitbull. He believes Adam doesn’t need emotional support, but rather physical activity and interaction with assertive men.
Honestly, I’m not sure I’d call it bullying. If someone is genuinely upset by a few comments, it makes me wonder about their resilience. It suggests a certain fragility, and in my experience, building inner strength is key to navigating life’s little challenges. It’s about developing a thicker skin, so to speak.
Adam has psoriatic arthritis, an autoimmune disease, and found it difficult to deal with tiredness and a lack of fluids while in the jungle.
David maintained he was unaware of the situation and didn’t seem concerned, saying everyone has their own issues. He described Adam as being energetic and dancing, but now lying in bed, likely because he didn’t want to deal with whatever the issue was. David admitted to playfully teasing Adam about it.
The boxer later shared that he’s been watching TikTok videos from Adam and his brothers, Scott and Ryan, and described them as having a ‘feminine’ style.
Viewers complained about David’s behavior after Adam, who has psoriatic arthritis, shared on last Friday’s episode that he was too unwell to take part in the ‘Termite Terror’ challenge.
The boxer confronted him, saying he didn’t care that the man was unwell. He argued that he was an adult and shouldn’t be making excuses, and expressed his dislike for people who seem incapable of handling things themselves.
‘I hate them useless guys. He is useless.’
Another argument erupted when the camp received a collective punishment because Adam brought in chocolate for his fellow campers. Adam responded by saying he wouldn’t eat dinner as a consequence.
David surprisingly asked for a smaller share than the others, seemingly upset that the group had been so supportive of him.
Adam was upset with David’s response to the amount of food he was served and demanded to speak with him privately, saying, ‘Let’s go outside and talk about this.’
As dessert arrived, David expressed his disappointment, saying they received much less than expected. Scarlett Moffatt quickly intervened, telling others to stop bothering him.
Ant and Dec, the hosts of ‘I’m A Celebrity,’ admitted they felt uneasy with some of the conversations they witnessed on the show’s companion series, ‘Unpacked,’ in a rare statement.
Ant said: ‘It’s not a nice watch. He just kind of picks and picks at them.
Adam is really struggling and the constant teasing is overwhelming him. Unfortunately, David continues to make things worse by not letting up.
Dec agreed: ‘It’s kind of crossed the line from banter. I don’t find it comfortable to watch.’
After leaving camp, David explained his history with Adam, saying there were no hard feelings. He shared that he’d been training in boxing since childhood, constantly challenging himself physically and mentally in intense gyms. He’d even won the world heavyweight title, defeating a very large, seven-foot-tall Russian opponent.
It feels strange when someone complains about a really enjoyable job – especially when it’s also well-paid – being the most difficult experience of their life. It’s a perspective I just don’t relate to.
‘I was actually on my best behaviour there, honestly.’
Just before the finale of I’m A Celebrity, Adam posted a photo with his fellow female contestants: Ashley, Scarlett, Sinitta, Gemma, and Beverley.
Alongside the shot, he penned: ‘I just want to say thank you to all these incredible women…
You’ve been an incredible support, even more than you probably realize, helping me through every challenge and uncertainty. I’m a sensitive person with a resilient spirit, and this situation really pushed me to my limits.
For months, I worried about how my actions would be seen by others. Despite being confident in my choices, I constantly wondered how everything would be presented and interpreted, and that constant uncertainty was really difficult to deal with.
‘I was never in it to win. I just refused to let them win by breaking me…’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
