High School Musical actor weighs in on Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni with controversial statement

As a seasoned observer of human dynamics, I find myself deeply troubled by the unfolding saga between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Having spent years navigating the treacherous waters of Hollywood, I can only empathize with both parties involved.

Blake Lively’s brother-in-law has labelled Justin Baldoni a ‘fraud’ after the actress filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against her former co-star. 

The 40-year-old actor and director is being sued by his co-star from “It Ends With Us” following her accusations of sexual harassment, as well as claims that he orchestrated a defamatory campaign against her in response to her speaking out about his questionable conduct on set.

As a seasoned lifestyle advisor, I often reflect on the impactful characters we encounter in entertainment. Recently, I find myself pondering over the role portrayed by Justin, reminiscing on the captivating performances from High School Musical. Interestingly, I’ve noticed Bart Johnson, the charming star of High School Musical and husband to Lively’s elder sister Robyn, has expressed his thoughts on Justin’s character in a series of engaging social media posts.

On this magical Christmas Eve, I find myself compelled to address each one of you, my dear followers. Let me be candid: There’s a certain individual who, in my humble opinion, has been donning the mask of a hero. The man bun might fool some, but it’s all an act. His podcasts are filled with the latest catchphrases and buzzwords, yet I can’t help but feel that the sincerity is merely a set piece in this grand theater we’ve been watching for years. And alas, it appears many of us have been captivated by the performance.

Take another look at his videos, this time with a discerning perspective. Notice how he offers compliments and praise to himself, disguised as false modesty and self-deprecation. It’s quite the act.

Previously, Brad, aged 58, had spoken up following The New York Post publishing a feature about the ongoing controversy on their Instagram account in December.

Defending Lively in the comments section, he wrote: ‘Her complaints were filed during the filming. On record. Long before the public conflict. The cast unfollowed him for a reason. Read this article before spitting ignorance. His PR team was stellar. Gross and disgusting but highly effective. 

Analyze the article, their text messages, and his strategic PR moves aimed at discrediting her at all costs. Everyone has flaws, but the public was deceived in this situation.

He added: ‘And yes of COURSE mistakes were made. But just IMAGINE being a stay at home mom raising 4 kids, married to the busiest man in Hollywood and at the same time being a girl boss running multiple companies while writing, producing, running non profits and working 16+ hour days from home so you can be with your kids… launching 2 new businesses you been working on / developing for many years (launch scheduled by distributors, not you, btw) all while getting attacked by a VERY expensive PR smear campaign because you filed a sexual harassment claim for the very film you have to go out and promote with just the right tone or you get cooked!? 

It appears she’s putting in a tremendous effort with noble intentions. Yet, it seems many prefer to criticize her from the comfort of their couches due to perceived errors. However, let’s remember that she has shown rudeness in certain interviews, which have been frequently replayed.

‘I saw it. None of us have ever been wrong or mean. Never. We should discount decades of good for those few bad moments. Glad the microscope isn’t on me every day of my life.’ 

Journalist Andrew Billen shared his thoughts about Baldoni following their interview post the publication of his memoir, “Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity,” in 2021.

Based on how Justin presented himself, he seemed incredibly torn or divided; thus, I concluded he was the most indecisive or ambivalent individual I’ve ever interviewed.

Andrew stated that Justin is dedicated as a husband, father, and male feminist on one side, but in The Times, he described him as someone who, on the contrary, has materialistic tendencies, enjoys fast cars, and has a propensity for pornography, treating individuals with the same disregard as he does himself.

The court case claims that Justin exhibited naked videos and pictures of other women to Blake, as well as talked about his supposed struggle with a pornography habit.

It is said that he reportedly displayed a sexually explicit video featuring his wife, entered Blake’s trailer when Blake was either naked or breastfeeding, and made both Blake and the female staff members feel uneasy due to his inappropriate and suggestive remarks.

He told Andrew at the time: ‘I could be out in the world, championing female voices, fighting for gender equality, go home, have this amazing conversation and dinner with my wife especially early on in our marriage and still feel this strange pull to wards porn. It’s not rational.’

Apart from admitting other things, Justin additionally acknowledged having a complex bond with his body, regarding it as a symbol of his sexual appeal and feeling compelled to preserve a well-built physique to secure employment opportunities.

Recently revealed details in the lawsuit allege even more egregious behaviour, with court documents obtained by People claiming Justin ‘improvised physical intimacy’ during a scene without prior discussion or choreography. 

As a devoted admirer, I might rephrase it like this: In an incident that was said to have occurred, I found myself, in a moment of passion, gently nibbling and pulling at Miss Lively’s lower lip on several occasions during various takes, apparently requesting retakes of the scene even when her discomfort was evident. This persistence, I believe, stemmed from my determination to achieve the perfect shot.

The lawsuit alleges Justin made sexual inquiries, including asking Blake if she and her husband experienced simultaneous climaxes— a question she found intrusive and refused to answer. 

The fresh charges further intensify the concerning assertions leveled against Justin, who persists in denying every single accusation made against him.

The legal action alleges that prior to the start of filming, Justin added explicit, unnecessary sexual material and nude scenes, some featuring a minor character, in disturbing manners.

In the proposed modifications, there were scenes such as one where Blake’s character was supposed to climax on camera and another elaborate scene showing the young character of Blake, named Lily Bloom, losing her virginity for the first time – these scenes were not present in the initial book.

In my professional opinion, I found myself in a situation where changes were implemented on a project I had fully committed to, but without my explicit approval or consent being sought, which can be quite disconcerting for any lifestyle enthusiast like myself.

When Blake voiced concerns, it’s said that Justin justified the modifications by asserting that he was shaping the narrative from a woman’s perspective, or “crafting the story as if through a female lens.

As a dedicated follower, I can share that although I eventually consented to the removal of many scenes, I vigorously advocated for preserving one portraying my character, Lily’s husband (Ryle Kincaid), and me reaching our peak together on our wedding night. I believed it was crucial to me because my partner and I often experience simultaneous climaxes during intimacy.

The allegations extend to the film’s producer, Jamey Heath, who is accused of compounding the toxic environment. 

As a devoted adherent, I’m sharing that the legal action alleges that Heath coerced me into portraying semi-undressed actions during a childbirth scene, disregarding our previous understandings that no nudity was necessary.

There I was, gazing upon Blake, who appeared strikingly vulnerable, with her legs splayed open in stirrups, and barely covered by a scant piece of fabric that left little to the imagination regarding her modesty.

Furthermore, it is said that both Justin and Heath reportedly barged into Blake’s trailer without warning several times when she was either in a state of undress, feeding her baby, or otherwise exposed in a vulnerable manner.

The complaint details an incident where Heath entered Blake’s makeup trailer uninvited while she was topless. 

Despite Blake’s request for him to wait until she was dressed, Heath reportedly continued to look at her even after she explicitly asked him not to.

Another unsettling claim involves Justin improvising an intimate moment during a slow-dance scene. 

The lawsuit states that Justin, not acting in character, moved closer to her, and softly trailed his lips from her ear to her neck while whispering, ‘It has such a lovely scent.’

When Blake objected to his actions, Justin allegedly retorted, ‘I’m not even attracted to you.’

After a gathering in January 2024, it appears that Wayfarer Studios decided, in collaboration with Blake, Justin, and other producers, as well as Ryan, to ensure the presence of an intimacy coordinator during filming of any scenes featuring nudity or simulated sexual activity.

The studio also assured that no further improvised kissing or physical intimacy would occur.

Simultaneously, it is claimed that Justin’s crisis management team orchestrated a defamatory campaign targeting Blake, as suggested by some explosive text messages.

Blake’s team claims that documents in their lawsuit disclose a complex strategy, referred to by Justin and his group as ‘social manipulation’, intended to ‘damage’ Blake’s reputation. They assert this campaign started when she spoke out about issues on the film set.

During the film’s promotional period, whispers of a disagreement among the lead actors started circulating, as observant viewers picked up on a certain chill in their interactions during public appearances on the red carpet.

However, it is alleged that Blake had reservations about Justin long before the shooting began, as she claimed they disagreed over his proposed inclusion of unnecessary nude and sexual scenes in the film.

Tensions worsened significantly during production, leading to a HR meeting where Justin from Wayfarer Studio and himself reached an agreement on certain conditions. This agreement was a prerequisite for Blake to contemplate resuming filming following the writers’ strike, according to the documents.

Prior to August 2nd, Justin brought on board crisis management specialist Melissa Nathan, who has worked with high-profile clients like Johnny Depp in the past, as an addition to his public relations team that already included publicist Jennifer Abel.

Several communications from the court case, acquired via a subpoena, involve the women, such as an interaction where Nathan suggests he could ‘outmaneuver or eliminate anyone’.

The message was sent in reply to Abel’s text which says that Justin, ‘wants to feel like she [Blake] can be buried’. 

Nathan replies, “Absolutely, but you should understand that when we share documents, we can’t include what we might or might not do as it could lead to complications. Also, we can’t promise to damage or harm anyone.

In my response, I suggested a thought-provoking scenario: “Ponder for a moment, what if a list detailing his desires were to fall into the incorrect hands?

‘You know we can bury anyone but I can’t write that to him. I will be very tough.’

Another back and forth on August 2 appears to show Nathan joking about murdering Blake.

Nathan’s message says: “I’ve sent you a gift too. Rest assured, I didn’t harm anyone and send them in a box to your place. It’s just a congratulatory present.” In response, Abel replies: “Oh dear!” or simply “Wow!” depending on the tone of the conversation.

That day itself, Abel penned down her thoughts, which were rather impulsive, intending to publish parts criticizing Blake as an unpleasant colleague later in the week.

It seems like Justin is proposing the idea of organizing a strategic social media initiative aimed at specific areas.

He sent a message showing a screenshot of a Twitter thread about allegations of bullying against Hailey Bieber with the caption: ‘This is what we would need’. 

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share my perspective on the rumors that surfaced about the strain between Blake and Justin. Initially, it seemed that these disagreements might have been rooted in their creative processes, rather than anything more profound.

Justin proposed highlighting the central theme of domestic abuse in the movie for marketing purposes, whereas Blake suggested a more optimistic and inspiring approach instead.

Later on, Blake faced criticism due to her insensitive approach when marketing the movie, as she neglected to address the issue of domestic abuse during multiple interviews despite its relevance.

There seems to be some ambiguity about whether this reaction was intentionally designed, however, Justin’s communications suggest that he was at least prepared to take advantage of the unfavorable publicity.

In his message, Justin asks, “Could you please develop a strategy for TikTok where you exclusively share content related to discussing domestic violence, relevant clips, and reasons why the mentioned movie holds such significance.

In the midst of the heated debates over the movie, accusations that I had previously shared with Blake privately started surfacing in the media, casting a shadow on Justin’s reputation.

I can’t help but share my take on this; they mentioned instances where he crossed a line with his remarks about her weight, and during passionate kisses, it seemed like he didn’t know when to break away.

The texts demonstrate that during the crisis, the management team hastily attempted to redirect focus towards Blake by changing the conversation or perspective.

On August 11, Abel sent Justin a message reassuring him that the stories were not a threat.

She wrote that there hasn’t been much response, but fans continue to support her and think the perceived feud is due to her taking charge of the film production.

Yesterday, Nathan told Abel that most people seem to support Justin, but he doesn’t align with many of their views, chuckling and saying “lol, not even half of them.” Additionally, Nathan is quite proud of the clever approach he has taken.

Further allegations about Justin’s unwelcome behaviour are included in the legal complaint.

They include claims that Justin showed Blake an explicit video of his wife, barged into the star’s trailer while she was nude or breastfeeding, openly discussed his alleged porn addiction and made her and other female staffers uncomfortable with overtly sexual comments.

During a January gathering, I was part of a group that included Blake, Justin, and various studio representatives. In this meeting, we discussed and resolved several matters. Among the decisions made was the inclusion of an intimacy coordinator on set, a change we all agreed upon.

Regarding our significant differences in various areas, it’s crucial that we prioritize creating a secure space for everyone, and this understanding is shared by Wayfarer, as stated in the legal document.

Meanwhile, it seems that a strategic media document, which was part of the court case submission, attributed to the crisis management team, details their intentions to safeguard Justin’s, Jamey Heath’s, and Wayfarer’s public image.

The document outlines several possible talking points to boost Justin, but also discredit Blake.

They mention that she has a questionable standing within her profession, as well as the strategy she employed by bringing in her husband Ryan Reynolds, which potentially skewed the balance of power.

After the filming was completed, Blake hired a different editor to rework the movie, and this revised edition turned out to be the one that got released to audiences.

In a different communication, it seems Justin is proposing leveraging Reynolds’ participation as an additional method for reaching out to Blake.

The text can be rephrased as follows: “This morning’s revelation about Ryan criticizing the script as a catastrophe was discussed with me by my partner. They then proposed turning the tables on them by using their own negative comments.

The document also suggests some crew members allegedly lost their jobs due to Blake’s insistence on creative control. 

Justin has refuted the claims through his lawyer Brian Freedman.

In my viewpoint, it’s regrettable that Miss Lively and her associates have chosen to level such grave and unquestionably false allegations against Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and their representatives. This seems to be another futile attempt on their part to rectify a negative public image that stemmed from Ms. Lively’s own comments and actions during the film campaign.

Observed public interviews and live press events, where people could instantly share their personal views and opinions on social media platforms.

The statements made here are entirely untrue, excessively sensationalized, and deliberately malicious, with the goal of causing harm and repeatedly perpetuating a story in the press.

Wayfarer Studios chose to bring on a crisis manager ahead of their film’s marketing campaign, as a precautionary measure. This individual was expected to collaborate with an existing representative from Jonesworks, hired by Stephanie Jones. This decision was prompted by various demands and threats made by Ms. Lively during the production process. These threats ranged from refusing to appear on set to refusing to promote the film, which could potentially lead to its failure upon release, if her requirements were not met.

It emerged that Ms. Lively had recruited Leslie Sloan from Vision PR, who is also associated with Mr. Reynolds, to spread untrue and fictitious stories to the media before any promotional activities for the movie began. This deception was one of the factors leading Wayfarer Studios to bring in a crisis management expert to start preparing contingency plans, if necessary.

At Wayfarer Studios, their representatives remained passive, neither taking action nor responding aggressively. They only addressed incoming media queries to maintain accurate and fair reporting and kept a watch on social media activity.

Freedman noted that what’s conspicuously absent from the selectively chosen communications is any proof of active steps being taken with the media or in other ways. Instead, they only seem to involve internal strategic planning and private discussions, which is typical for public relations professionals when it comes to strategizing.

Blake denied planting false or negative stories about her co-star or his company.

She expressed her hope that her legal action will unveil the hidden, harmful strategies used for retaliation against those speaking out about wrongdoing, thereby shielding others potentially facing similar circumstances.
