Hello Kitty has teamed up with many different brands over the years, but her partnership with CoComelon is especially popular with families. Now, the animated series CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends, which began online, will be available on Disney+, making it even easier for kids to enjoy both Hello Kitty and CoComelon in one place.
I’m so excited! Disney+ is adding a new Hello Kitty musical series starting August 4th! It’s not just Hello Kitty either – My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin will be there too. It’s awesome to see Sanrio expanding into more entertainment, especially since they’ve been having a really big year in 2026!
CoComelon and Sanrio Unite And Bring Their Series To Disney+
The show CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends first appeared on YouTube a few months ago and is now coming to Disney+ faster than many expected. It combines the educational style of CoComelon with beloved Sanrio characters, offering short, fun adventures perfect for young children and their families.
As a total animation fan, I’ve been checking out this new CoComelon series, and each episode is a quick, fun burst of about three minutes. It’s a really clever mix of songs you can sing along to, little games that get you involved, sweet stories, and just playful stuff for kids. What’s really cool is they’ve given the CoComelon characters – like JJ – a makeover with this adorable Sanrio style. It feels fresh and new for both CoComelon and Sanrio, but still keeps what everyone loves about both of them!
The show still prioritizes education. Instead of just being adorable, CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends helps kids grow emotionally by teaching them about kindness, working together, making friends, and sharing. The gentle stories and songs get viewers involved, continuing CoComelon’s tradition of making learning fun and simple.
A Huge Year for Hello Kitty Continues
Disney+ is launching new Hello Kitty content at a busy time for the brand. This year has already seen Hello Kitty release a comic book series and the return of Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures for its thirteenth season. The show also added the popular Little Twin Stars, growing the list of characters fans already love.
The leaders behind this project see it as more than just one streaming event. Nicole Rivera, from CoComelon, explained that the collaboration beautifully combines music, friendship, and learning – staying true to both brands while offering something fresh for kids. Kevin Mayer of Candle Media echoed this sentiment, hinting that this is only the first step in a larger creative partnership.
Sanrio has an exciting new project in the works – Hello Kitty’s first-ever full-length movie! Warner Bros. Animation, New Line Cinema, and FlynnPictureCo. are teaming up to bring the popular character to the big screen. It took almost ten years of talks between producer Beau Flynn and Sanrio founder Shintaro Tsuji to make it happen. While the story is still under wraps, the movie is expected to be released in U.S. theaters on July 21, 2028. In the meantime, fans can enjoy Hello Kitty and her friends in a new way with CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends, which will start streaming on Disney+ on August 4th.
