Hannah Waddingham leads cast of BBC’s Julia Donaldson adaptation
As a devoted fan who has grown up with the enchanting tales of Julia Donaldson, I am absolutely thrilled to witness Hannah Waddingham breathe life into the beloved character of Tiddler this Christmas! Her exceptional talent and captivating storytelling skills have graced our screens in the heartwarming series Ted Lasso, and now she’s set to enchant us once more as the narrator for this magical animated adaptation.
Hannah Waddingham will lead the cast of the BBC’s upcoming special Tiddler.
Actress from “Ted Lasso,” will be voicing a character in an animation of the cherished kids’ book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The movie is scheduled to broadcast this Christmas season on BBC One.
In simpler terms, Donaldson and Scheffler wrote an inspiring story about a fish that utilized the art of storytelling to navigate back home following a journey in the ocean.
In the upcoming production of “Tiddler,” Waddingham will be the narrator. Reuben Kirby lends his voice to the title character, with Lolly Adefope from “Ghosts” and Jayde Adams, a former contestant on “Strictly Come Dancing,” taking on supporting roles.
As a long-time fan of British comedy, I am thrilled to see Rob Brydon lending his voice to the BBC’s “Tiddler” special this Christmas season. With his extensive background in stand-up and acting, it’s no surprise that he will also be returning for the “Gavin and Stacey” special. His talent and versatility have always made him a favorite among viewers, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to these iconic roles this holiday season. It’s clear that Brydon has had an impressive career, but it’s his ability to bring laughter and joy to audiences that truly sets him apart.
As the narrator for this heartwarming Christmas special produced by Magic Light Pictures, I’ve found the experience incredibly gratifying to record. The story of Tiddler resonates deeply with me as it mirrors the taleteller within us all, shedding light on the struggles and triumphs of being a tiny fish in an immense ocean – something we can all relate to in our own lives!
Over the years, I’ve taken great pleasure in sharing the works of authors Julia and Axel with my child, and now it’s a joy to adapt one of their books into this enchanting animated adaptation.
Julia Donaldson guarantees that the BBC’s animated version of Tiddler draws inspiration directly from the “narrative style and boundless creativity” found in her original book.
The movie effectively encapsulates the essence of the narrative and breathes life into it through an exceptional ensemble of actors. Among them, the child performers who play the central roles in this retelling truly stand out.
Tiddler, as you know, is the twelfth animated version of Donaldson’s works that was made for the BBC. Currently, all the earlier adaptations can be streamed on the BBC iPlayer platform.
Hannah Waddingham has had experience with holiday-themed shows, having appeared in a personal streaming special titled “Hannah Waddingham’s Cozy Christmas” the previous year.
Tiddler airs at Christmas on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
