SXSW London has chosen Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma to be the closing film of this year’s festival, taking place June 1st to 6th. Tickets are available now on the official website, so be sure to get yours!
Jane Schoenbrun’s latest film centers on a young filmmaker who gets the opportunity to revive the popular slasher series, Camp Miasma. As she connects with the original star of the films, a complex relationship forms, drawing them into a world of intense emotions, unsettling fears, and a dreamlike state.

According to Anna Bogutskaya, Head of the Screen Festival, Jane Schoenbrun is creating some of the most compelling work in film right now. Their latest film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, expands on themes Schoenbrun has explored before – like horror, fan culture, memory, and identity – taking their filmmaking to a new level.
The chemistry between Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson was incredibly intense – every scene they shared felt like it was crackling with energy.

Schoenbrun explained they were aiming for that classic ‘sleepover movie’ feel – something scary but fun, like a wild, late-night adventure you’d stumble upon while browsing the horror aisle at a video store.

The film will be released in UK and Ireland cinemas on August 21st, after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May and SXSW London in June.
