As an ardent fan of the silver screen and daytime dramas, I can honestly say that Nicholas Pryor leaves behind an indelible legacy that transcends generations. His 89 years were filled with a rich tapestry of performances, from his early days on soap operas in the mid-1950s to his iconic role as Tom Cruise’s father in the timeless classic, Risky Business.
89-year-old Nicholas Pryor, recognized primarily for his extended role in the General Hospital spinoff, Port Charles, passed away recently as a soap opera actor.
Pryor died on Monday at his home in Wimington, North Carolina.
The actor had been battling cancer for some time prior to his death, according to The Mirror.
Despite spending decades filming countless episodes of soap operas from the 1950s onwards, Pryor also built a notable career in more prominent TV series and movies.
Back in the ’80s, I found myself starstruck by a movie that became my all-time favorite – the iconic Risky Business from 1983. Guess who played the role of Tom Cruise’s dad? None other than yours truly!
