Comic book fans across the US and Canada are getting excited for Free Comic Book Day 2026! Major publishers are releasing a lot of special, free comics just for the event.

While DC hasn’t released a ton of new material lately, there are still a couple of interesting titles worth looking at. These include the kid-friendly Aquamanatee #1 Special Edition and a reprint of the first issue of James Tynion IV’s The Nice House on the Lake, which is being released to celebrate the return of the Vertigo imprint.

Keep an eye out for exciting new releases from top independent publishers! Conan fans won’t want to miss the latest issue, Conan the Barbarian: Tides of the Tyrant King #0 from Titan Comics, and Mad Cave Studios is launching a fresh story with the classic hero Flash Gordon in Flash Gordon #1.

Free Comic Book Day will also include comics with characters from other sources. Dynamite Entertainment is releasing a story featuring Stitch from Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, and another based on the popular TV show, Supernatural.

Comics Giveaway Day Debuts In 2026

Comic book fans have a double celebration to look forward to in 2026! Not only is Free Comic Book Day happening, but there’s also a brand new event called Comics Giveaway Day.

Free Comic Book Day and Comics Giveaway Day are very similar. The main difference is that Comics Giveaway Day is an extra event sponsored by Penguin Random House where a limited selection of comics are given away for free. Diamond Comics has always handled the distribution of Free Comic Book Day titles.

So, there’s another free comic book day happening, which is awesome! It’s on the same day as last time, but they’re giving away different comics this year. Marvel’s got some cool stuff, including a couple featuring Spider-Man. They’re even doing a prequel story that’s wild – it throws an Alien Xenomorph into the mix! Definitely checking that one out.

Fans have even more team-ups to anticipate, including a crossover from Dark Horse Comics bringing together He-Man and the Masters of the Universe with Dungeons & Dragons, offering two exciting adventures inspired by these beloved fantasy worlds. For those who grew up with classic cartoons, Boom! Studios is releasing a Jem and the Holograms / My Little Pony flipbook, bringing back a bit of Saturday morning fun.

For fans of classic children’s entertainment, BOOM! Studios is offering a special Power Rangers comic as part of Comics Giveaway Day. Power Rangers #0 gives readers a sneak peek at the upcoming story featuring Tommy Oliver.
