Four Face Turns that WWE Needs to Make Happen Soon

As a seasoned wrestling enthusiast with over three decades under my belt, I must say that SummerSlam was a spectacle to behold, but it left a bit of a sour taste due to the overwhelming dominance of our beloved heroes. While I appreciate the good guys winning, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia for the days when heels ruled the ring and the crowd roared with delight at their nefarious deeds.

SummerSlam was an exceptional event, however, it faced some severe critique, being more focused on storylines rather than physical action. Key moments included Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley’s character transformations, plus hints suggesting Roman Reigns may be embarking on a journey towards the good side. Given these shifts, there are at least four more character changes that WWE should consider soon, as requested by fans, performers, and storylines alike. The WWE Universe yearns for fresh faces to rise and bring us justice, as repetitive wins from familiar talents can often become dull. In this case, change is the flavor that adds zest, or in simpler terms, the sweetener.

Nia Jax has won over the internet

Nia Jax claimed victory in the Queen of the Ring tournament and leveraged that title into becoming the WWE Women’s Champion. Along the way, she achieved something remarkable – winning over the online wrestling community, though it must be said, not everyone was won over. In the past, a match between Nia and Bayley might have been considered tragic. However, now fans are praising the match and have been enthusiastic about Nia ever since her triumphant comeback.

Nia Jaz has previously taken on the lead role, however, it was within a less sophisticated narrative involving body shaming and bullying. This experience now serves as a chance for her to redeem herself by avoiding such storylines. As WWE currently boasts numerous villains, having an experienced heroine to battle against is beneficial. When Tiffany Stratton is prepared to capitalize, she will do so against a friend, with the crowd’s backing. This move will elevate Stratton’s status and increase everyone’s popularity.

Austin Theory has never worked as a heel

John Cena stated that Austin Theory is still just a theory, and he seems to be correct. While it was believed that Austin Theory would become the next big star, this hasn’t fully materialized yet. In his current tag team with Grayson Waller, Austin Theory often takes a backseat role. With the Austin Theory experiment not going as planned, it might be time for a change in direction. So far, we’ve seen Austin Theory play the part of a henchman, a show-off, and various other roles. However, WWE has yet to try Austin Theory as a hero.

After Theory and Waller parted ways, it’s advisable to let Waller claim his victory and adopt a boastful villain persona similar to his NXT days. He excels in this role, and as a fresh talent, he needs time to develop this character. It appears that this is the strategy being followed. Theory, on the other hand, seems to require a change, and a face turn could be the solution. This transformation will be challenging due to his unpopularity among fans. However, he has an appealing appearance, and he’s exceptionally skilled in the ring. With a well-crafted redemption storyline, he could become a mid-card hero on Smackdown who frequently challenges for the United States title. This allows the more prominent stars to focus on main event storylines on both shows.

Damage CTRL has met its match

It’s been quite some time since the majority of fans have given thought to Damage CTRL. Following SummerSlam, the group made a significant impact on Monday Night Raw, engaging in feuds with not just one but two other groups. Due to their shifting alliances and recent history, these factions can be rather fluid. This fluidity presents an excellent opportunity for WWE to redefine Damage CTRL, much like they did with The Bloodline and Judgment Day. Instead of maintaining their current alignment and ousting those who don’t fit, Damage CTRL could choose to keep its members and transform all four into fan-favorites (faces).

Liv Morgan, Raw’s current champion, is playing the villain role (heel), and her reign might last longer than expected following her alliance with Dominik and her victory over Rhea Ripley, her main rival. For her lengthy run to be convincing, strong challengers, or faces, are required, and they could potentially emerge from Damage CTRL. Iyo, a former champion, could deliver an outstanding title match. Moreover, the entire group of Damage CTRL members could serve as a stepping stone for budding talent such as Gulia. Therefore, transforming them into fan favorites (faces) beforehand would be an effective strategy to introduce their promising new project in the future.

Carlito doesn’t fit with Judgment Day

The strangest part of Judgment Day’s metamorphosis is the inclusion of Carlito. Carlito was always a peculiar hanger-on for Judgment Day, but his official acceptance into the group is even stranger. Sure, he is an outcast, but his return was met with excitement; he is a nostalgia act that fans were excited about. Pairing him with the heatless LWO is how he ended up where he is now, but WWE could fix their initial mistake and give him a real run as a returning vet.

Discussing Carlito’s mismatch with Judgment Day’s aesthetic and temperament might be utilized on RAW to eliminate him from the group. If Finn Balor and Dominik turn against him, he will swiftly rejoin the good guy roster, and fans, who often dislike these two in WWE Universe, may support him. This could lead to a long career for Carlito, leveraging his extensive experience. He could aim for the Intercontinental or even World Heavyweight title, but he is controlled by young, promising villains. Previously, this description perfectly applied to Carlito, and his face run could provide RAW with a fresh contender while allowing fans to cheer for him as they always wished to.

Face turns that WWE needs to perfect

To begin with, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley successfully flipped their image to fan favorites at SummerSlam, while Roman Reigns made a triumphant return as a hero. It’s unusual in WWE for such heroic moments to be well-received and timed correctly, but these instances were exceptions. In contrast, WWE often struggles with its heroes, resulting in fewer lasting impact characters. However, the current wrestling scene is overflowing with do-gooders; the villains are struggling to keep up. This suggests that some heel turns or promotions might be on the horizon, as the bad guys could benefit from a switch.
