Florence Pugh calls out sexism in Hollywood as she says it is ‘a different animal for women than it is for men’ and urges people to challenge body shaming

Florence Pugh recently spoke out about the double standard of sexism in Hollywood, explaining that it affects women differently than men. She also encouraged others to speak up against body shaming.

Florence Pugh, now 30, started her acting career at age 18 with the 2014 film The Falling. She’s been a highly sought-after actress ever since.

But being a woman with such a huge public presence has its drawbacks, Florence has said. 

Florence recently told The Mirror she’s frustrated by the way women are quickly labeled as demanding when they simply set personal limits, and how their appearances are constantly judged and scrutinized.

She explained that Hollywood judges women and men by different standards. A man who is assertive is seen as strong-willed, but a woman displaying the same trait is often labeled a ‘diva’.

‘How often do you read online comments about men’s body shapes? For women it’s a daily occurrence.’

Florence also pointed out that it’s especially tough for younger actresses, and encouraged all women in the industry to push back against unrealistic body expectations.

Earlier this month, Florence went Instagram official with her boyfriend Finn Cole.

The 30-year-old actress and the star of Peaky Blinders, also 30, both attended a glamorous Bulgari event in Milan this week.

Rumors of a romance between the couple began in September 2024 after they were spotted leaving a party together, but they hadn’t officially confirmed they were dating until now.

When they announced their relationship on social media, they looked very happy together in a photo, with Finn sweetly looking at her.

She captioned it about being with her ‘boys’ and how much she loves Milan’s late-night pizza, and tagged #bvlgari #bvlgaripartner. It’s just… perfect. I need that pizza and that life! Florence turned heads at the event in a bold green dress with a high slit, completing her look with eye-catching jewelry from a high-end brand.

The show-stopping pleated and strapless gown showed off plenty of leg with its sultry design.

People are speculating that the star is engaged to Finn after she was seen wearing a noticeable new ring that looks like an engagement ring.

Florence and Finn have been friends for a long time, and rumors of a romantic relationship started after they were seen together at the London premiere of the Netflix movie, The Perfect Couple, in September 2024.

I’m hearing that these two have been quietly falling for each other for a while now, and they’ve actually decided to get married! They were keeping things pretty low-key, getting to know each other outside of the public eye, which is lovely, and now they’re ready to tie the knot.

A source told The Sun that while both individuals are focused on their careers, they’ve also developed a close connection with each other.

Daily Mail contacted Finn and Florence’s representatives for comment.  

Florence Pugh revealed she’s in a relationship during her Vogue cover shoot in October, though she didn’t mention her partner, Finn. She shared that she’s very happy and is handling this romance in a new way compared to previous relationships.

She shared that she is in a relationship and added, ‘I truly believe that falling in love is like magic, if magic actually exists.’

Okay, so Florence just said it! She basically admitted she and her partner are working through things, you know, figuring out their future… and oh my gosh, she said she’s ready for a family! I’m seriously squealing right now. It’s happening, you guys, it’s really happening! I’ve been following her for years and this is the best news ever!

We’re still trying to understand who we are as a group. And for the first time, I’m choosing not to get caught up in dramatic ups and downs.
