First-look trailer for Keeley Hawes’ “unique” drama teases heartbreaking anguish in “moving” series

A new trailer has been released for Channel 4’s upcoming drama starring Keeley Hawes, which has been described as both unique and compelling. The six-episode series, created by Jack Thorne – who also co-created Adolescence – features Hawes as Sister Anna and Paapa Essiedu as Father David.

The trailer hints at the painful emotional journey of Essiedu and Hawes’ characters, who find themselves torn between their love for each other and their faith. The story follows Anna and David, dedicated members of their church and community, who unexpectedly fall in love.

When these characters do fall, they’re challenged to rethink their beliefs, commitments, and connection to faith. Falling is a smart, touching, and modern love story that’s both realistic and deeply emotional.

Essiedu commended Jack Thorne’s debut love story, describing it as a testament to Thorne’s unique ability to find beauty in everyday moments. He shared this in a press statement, highlighting that the story is infused with Thorne’s special talent for elevating the ordinary.

Hawes shared her excitement about playing Anna and expressed how happy she was to be collaborating with Essiedu.
