Falcons benches 3 players after not qualifying for Perfect World Shanghai Major

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia as I witness Falcons’ roster shakeup for 2025. The team has been on a rollercoaster ride since their inception, and this latest move seems to be a bold step towards revitalizing the squad.

Falcons will be the most active organization in the CS2 transfer market for 2025.

On November 21st, Falcons made a change in their lineup, benching Peter “dupreeh”, Marco “Snappi”, and Pavle “Maden”. This move came just two days following the team’s early elimination from the Perfect World Shanghai Major Europe RMR.

Beyond that, it’s been decided that Falcons won’t renew Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev’s contract for 2025. Now, only Emil “Magisk” Reif remains active on the team, as Spanish AWPer Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia continues to be sidelined.

Not being able to attend the Shanghai Major was a deeply disheartening and sad letdown for us, as stated in our announcement. We are currently channeling all our energy and resources into rebuilding our team for the year 2025.

As a dedicated fan, I wasn’t surprised when our long-awaited transformation was announced. After all, we hadn’t made any significant strides in 2024, and our head coach, Danny “zonic” Sørensen, had hinted at changes even before the Europe RMR setback. So, it wasn’t like the team was taken aback by this overhaul; it was more a matter of when, rather than if.

In December 2023, Snappi and Maden became part of the Falcons team, having departed from ENCE concurrently with SunPayus to join a Saudi-supported organization. Meanwhile, Dupreeh had been a member of the Falcons since April. He was recruited as a replacement for Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas, who Falcons parted ways with after they missed the PGL Copenhagen Major.

What’s next for Falcons?

With Magisk being the only player still active on the roster, Falcons currently have several options to consider moving forward. Reports indicate that they have signed G2’s standout rifleman Nikola “NiKo” Kovač for 2025, and whispers suggest that they are aiming to recruit both G2’s AWPer Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov and MOUZ’s anchor Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo.

It’s not entirely certain whether the Falcons are seeking another in-game leader, too. Given Magisk’s strong performance as a mid-round strategist, it’s possible that the team might consider appointing him as their permanent in-game leader.

As a devoted Falcons fan, I’m fully aware that rebuilding our roster next year will be quite an undertaking. However, with over a month to strategize and plan, we’ll make it happen for the 2025 season. Unfortunately, our absence from the Major this year means we won’t have any remaining events to play in 2024. But hey, every challenge presents an opportunity to grow stronger! Let’s embrace this period to prepare and come back even more formidable than before!

As a gamer, I’m guessing there won’t be any big announcements until the Shanghai Major wraps up in December. But it looks like Niko’s move to another team is pretty much set in stone, seeing as G2 has already confirmed he’ll be leaving them at year’s end.
